Who's Eligible for the American Airlines AAdvantage Cards?
Citi restricts eligibility for welcome bonuses on its American Airlines AAdvantage credit cards based on whether you’ve received a bonus on the same card in the past 48 months.
If you’ve earned a welcome bonus on a specific card within the last four years, you won’t be eligible to earn that bonus again. For example:
“American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® account in the past 48 months.”
Each card has this same verbiage stating you can't get the bonus again within 48 months on that same card.
However, there is no restriction on applying for any of these cards if you already hold a different American Airlines card. Thus, you can get the AA MileUp Card if you have the AA Executive Card or Citi AAdvantage Business Card, and vice versa.
If you're thinking about reapplying for a card you've had in the past, take a moment to double-check the fine print. You’ll need to confirm that the card is no longer open and that it’s been at least 48 months since you last received a sign-up bonus. If not, you won’t be eligible for the bonus again.
Additionally, there is a general rule for all Citi credit card applications. You can apply for only one personal card every eight days and open a maximum of two cards within a 65-day period. With Citi's business credit cards, you can only apply for one every 95 days.
