Alaska Air Group's 2024 investor day was pretty revealing, especially in light of its now-closed merger with Hawaiian Airlines. In addition to new routes and major plans to increase the number of premium seats across its fleet, Alaska Airlines is also preparing to launch a brand-new premium credit card. And thanks to Alaska Air Group's Q2 2025 earnings call, we now know the card is set to debut in August 2025.

Here's what we know about the premium Mileage Plan credit card that's about to launch.

A Brand-New Alaska Airlines Premium Credit Card Is Launching August 2025

In August 2025, the Alaska Airlines credit card portfolio will grow from two cards to three. A brand-new premium offering will join the airline's mid-tier consumer and business products. This new card will come with a $395 annual fee and plenty of perks, including:

  • An “innovative” Global Companion Award Certificate is on the way, along with waived award ticket fees — specifically the $12.50 partner booking fee, not all taxes and fees.
  • 3X miles on all eligible foreign and dining purchases.
  • A faster path to Mileage Plan elite status.
  • Alaska Lounge passes and in-flight Wi-Fi vouchers.
  • A “travel disruption program.”

Some of these benefits sound enticing, while others are vague. But for now, this is all we know about this new card. As we get closer to the card's launch date, Alaska Mileage Plan will likely share more — and will do so directly if you pre-register your interest.

With that, Alaska Airlines has shared a landing page where you can pre-register your interest in its incoming premium credit card. When the card officially launches, Alaska will send you an email with a one-click-away link to the application page.

If you registered your interest before December 31, 2024, don’t forget — you’ll earn 5,000 bonus miles on top of any other new account bonus you qualify for, as long as you apply using the link emailed to you within 14 days of receiving it.

Final Thoughts

It's always exciting to write about new credit cards — even ones not yet open for applications. A new Alaska Airlines credit card means another opportunity to earn valuable Mileage Plan miles — a valuable proposition in itself — before factoring in the additional perks that will come with the card.

The initial announcement of this new card left us with a lot of questions, many of which we still have since Alaska Airlines and Bank of America have done a bang-up job of keeping everything close to the vest.

For starters, though, the proposed annual fee is far lower than that of other premium airline credit cards — by a wide margin. Could this mean the perks won't be as premium as Alaska Airlines is advertising them to be? Or will the annual fee be nothing short of a bargain? We'll know for sure sometime in August!

  • 3X bonus on all foreign spend. Never seen that bonus category before, might be worth getting this card just to get that bonus category. And until now I have concentrated most of my spend on transferrable travel rewards credit cards.

  • Michael Kelly says:

Do we know if current holders of the Alaska Airline Visa card would qualify for the bonus if they upgrade to this?

    • Unlikely. Typically the sign-up bonus / welcome offer is only for new accounts — not upgrades. While card issues can offer a bonus for upgrading your card, it’s typically a much smaller bonus than signing up for a new card.
