American Express has added 3 Lounges to its Global Lounge Network in Munich. Holders of The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, as well as the Centurion Card, will have access to the lounges when flying with Austrian, Lufthansa, and Swiss, from Munich’s terminal 2 (Satellite).
The three lounges that are now available are:
- Lufthansa Business Class Lounge
- Lufthansa Senator Lounge
- Lufthansa First Class Lounge
Holders of The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express will be able to access the Business and Senator Class Lounges, while Centurion Cardholders will also be able to access the Lufthansa First Class lounge. Unfortunately, cardholders will not have guest access at these lounges, although supplementary and authorized cardholders will be able to gain access.
The Business class and Senator lounges share an entrance with the business class lounge being on the left and the senator lounge on the right. The entrance is located just across from gate K11; the First-class lounge is a little further up the concourse.
Overall
This is quite a positive for American Express cardholders since while there are plenty of lounges in terminal one when traveling within Schengen from terminal 2 (Satellite), there was minimal lounge access. This just adds to the already impressive list of perks of the Amex Platinum. Finally, when you consider how nice the First-class lounge is, this is a great perk for American Express Centurion cardholders.

I wish these were available in August when I was stuck in Munich for 4 hours!
Glad to see this addition by Amex. More lounges are definitely welcomed.
Amex’s lounge access seems to be expanding.
Can you pay for a guest to join you? Otherwise it’s a bit of a dead deal unless both parties have an Amex. Not always the case.
As of now, no.
I have the Delta Platinum Amex card and am traveling next month JFK to Santa Ana (SNA). Will I be able to use the Delta lounges by showing that card?
You will have to pay to gain entry; $29.
no bringing in guests kinda kills it for me
yay, free duckies
This is fantastic news. I love the LH lounges.
Great move on their part, specially for Centurion members.
Nice to have more options.
not something we use as we go
Lufthansa have some pretty good lounges, so this is definitely a bonus.
This is awesome however, Amex Plat is not in my wheel house just yet…maybe in my later years when I can travel more.
I wonder without having any membership, etc to get into lounges, can I usually just buy a pass if they offer that as an option? Do you know of any airlines outside of US carriers that offer this?
For example, can I fly on American in coach but buy a pass to get into Lufthansa’s lounge (any of them)?
Lots of general airport lounges will let you pay for access but most airline-branded lounges will have limited or no access. In your example, no you cannot fly AA and get access to LH lounges.
The more lounges for free the better, shame about not partners inc.
This brings a question up, which i have had for a longer time: HOW do i get the Centurion Card?
you need to be invited.
Ok….invited by someone having the Card already? Or invited by Amex?
American Express needs to invite you. You can call to request access but no guarantees — best number is on the back of a current American Express card that you have.
Still not worth keeping the card. haha
No guest privileges? Huh?
Quite an impressive addition.
Thanks for the info
awesome expansion of the AMEX benefits!
Now only if they did this in Frankfurt
I wonder if the same changes will come to FRA as well and not just MUC.
My Chase Sapphire Reserve (Priority Pass) gets me into Airport Lounge Europe and the Atlantic Lounge in Munich.
What an excellent lounge to get access to!
I am happy for this as Munich is my european gateway.
Cool! I hope to try it soon.
Kind of bummed there’s no guest access. I usually travel internationally with one other person.
finally a nice lounge addition to the Centurion card besides the Amex lounges.
Years ago I was able to access the Lufthansa lounge and was very impressed. These are great options to have if you happen to be traveling on one of those airlines. The lack of guest access is definitely limiting but since I travel mostly alone for business, I might end up using this perk.
Great to know, and yes another reason to keep the Amex Platinum in my wallet!
Good move on AMEX’s part.
I have visited this Lounge waiting my Lufthansa flight to London (under MM program). Drinks, beverages and rather quietly in my time. But in my opinion the same lounge in FRA airport is better.. But anyway, this one is nice to spend some time before your flight from Munich.
These lounges are pretty nice. Problem is I rarely travel alone, and no guest access is a killer
