New ways to earn points is always welcome news, and that's just what we have today. Starting today, Bilt members can earn up to 5x points on Lyft rides. However, you'll need to both link your Bilt Rewards account and use the The Bilt Mastercard® to earn the full 5x points.

Let's dig into the details of this new partnership and your other options for earning points on Lyft rides.

Earning Bilt Points on Lyft Rides

Bilt members can now link their Lyft and Bilt accounts to earn up to 5x Bilt Rewards points. This is broken down as:

  • 2x points on Lyft rides when selecting Bilt as your active loyalty rewards partner
  • 3x points on Lyft purchases charged to the Bilt Mastercard

You can now link your Bilt Rewards account right in the Lyft app to start earning 2x Bilt points on Lyft rides.

Lyft's Other Points-Earning Partnerships

Lyft partners with several travel loyalty programs to offer points earnings on rides. However, the earning details varies between programs:

The catch is that Lyft riders can only select one of these earning methods at a time. You make your selection by linking your chosen loyalty account in the Lyft app.

For Bilt Rewards members, the new 2x Bilt Rewards points earning rate is likely to be a more valuable option than the others. Bilt offers 14 transfer partners — including some rare transfer partners (e.g. American Airlines AAdvantage) and some very valuable transfer partners (e.g. World of Hyatt).

However, Bilt doesn't transfer to Alaska, Delta, or Hilton. So, if you're trying to build up your balance of Alaska or Delta miles or Hilton points, you may want to select one of those options instead.

Choosing Which Credit Card to Use for Lyft

Now through March 2025, many Chase cards offer bonus points or cashback on Lyft rides:

On its face, the Bilt Mastercard new 5x earning rate is in line with what many Chase cards earn. However, there's an important difference: Bilt Mastercard cardholders need to also select Bilt as the active loyalty rewards partner to earn the full 5x points.

Meanwhile, Chase cardholders can double dip by earning up to 10x points on card spending plus earning Hilton points, Alaska miles, or Delta SkyMiles.

To truly maximize your earnings, consider selecting Bilt Rewards as your Lyft loyalty rewards partner to earn 2x Bilt points on Lyft rides. However, pay for your Lyft ride with an eligible Chase credit card to earn up to 10x points.

Bottom Line

It's always good news to see new point-earning partnerships, so we are excited to see this new Bilt Rewards partnership with Lyft.

Many Bilt Rewards members will be happy to earn a total of 5x points on Lyft rides. And there's some simplicity in just earning Bilt points on both your rides and your spending. However, point maximizers should consider splitting their earnings — earning Bilt points on rides but Chase points on Lyft purchases.
