New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport is getting a Capital One Lounge worthy of the city it calls home. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Capital One will open the doors to what it’s referring to as its flagship lounge. This expansive space brings together some of the best of New York, all in an airport lounge.

Here’s your first in-depth look at Capital One’s newest lounge at JFK.

Capital One Lounge JFK Location

You’ll find the entrance to the Capital One Lounge at JFK in the middle of the retail hall in Terminal 4. This terminal is home to airlines like Delta, Virgin Atlantic, and Singapore Airlines, but you don’t need to be flying out of T4 to access the lounge.

If you’re departing from a different terminal, JFK’s AirTrain connects all terminals and runs 24/7. Travel within the airport is free. But note that the AirTrain operates landside, so you’ll need to clear security again when switching terminals.

Capital One Lounge JFK Hours and Access

The flagship Capital One Lounge's hours will eventually reflect the energy of the city that never sleeps. Starting July 17, 2025, it will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But until then, the lounge will operate under soft opening hours:

  • June 19 – July 2: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
  • July 3 – July 16: 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM
  • July 17 and beyond: Open 24 hours daily

That said, once the lounge begins 24-hour operations, your experience will vary depending on when you visit. During late-night and early-morning hours, certain sections of the lounge may be closed due to movement restrictions set by the airport authority.

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cardholders can enter for $45 per visit. All other travelers, including non-cardholders, can purchase a day pass for $90.

Capital One Lounge JFK Layout

The Capital One Lounge at JFK feels massive. At 13,500 square feet, it’s the largest lounge Capital One has opened so far, and it shows.

Upon arrival, a staff member at the front desk will verify your eligibility to enter. From that point on, the lounge starts to open up.

You’ll pass through the first of many seating areas, each with power outlets and ample space to stash your luggage so it’s out of the way.

As you move into the center of the lounge, you’ll get to choose your adventure. One way leads to more seating and a refreshment station.

Another leads to the bodega, where you can grab a coffee, a bagel, or something else to go.

At the heart of the lounge, you’ll find a massive chandelier and a brand-forward color scheme, right near the windows where you can take in views of the busy JFK Terminal 4 apron.

Multiple long hallways stretch out from the center in both directions. They're lined with over 40 pieces of artwork created by local artists.

One hallway leads to the dining room, where you can grab small plates, order something warm, or sit at the cheesemonger counter.

The other direction takes you past the restrooms, shower suite, and work rooms before arriving at the bar.

And you'll pass at least a trio of refreshment stations as you make your way around the lounge.

There’s also more seating along the edges of the lounge in a variety of configurations, making it easy to find a setup that works for you and anyone you’re traveling with.

It’s a big space, and it lives up to the title of Capital One’s flagship lounge.

Capital One Lounge JFK Dining

Capital One Lounges are known for their creative food and beverage offerings, and the JFK location is no exception. Here, you’ll find a wide range of options, many of which are inspired by New York City’s vibrant food scene.

Cheesemonger counter

One of the most unique aspects of the Capital One Lounge at JFK is something you won’t find in any other airport lounge: a cheesemonger counter. Capital One partnered with Murray’s Cheese, a Manhattan-based favorite, to create an interactive culinary experience — and it’s worth the trip all on its own.

Guests who grab a seat, available on a first-come, first-served basis, can enjoy curated charcuterie boards crafted through a quick conversation with the cheesemonger, who will tailor the selections based on your preferences. To pair with your board, you'll also be offered wine and beer selections that are exclusive to the cheesemonger counter and not available elsewhere in the lounge.

Capital One says the offerings will rotate over time, so the experience you have on your first visit might be very different from your second. But if there’s one recommendation I’d make, it’s this: don’t miss the Meredith Dairy Australian marinated sheep and goat cheese. You won’t be disappointed.

New York–inspired bodega

The cheesemonger counter isn’t the only dining option you won’t find in another airport lounge. The Capital One Lounge at JFK also features a New York–inspired bodega.

While the general concept is similar to other Capital One Lounges, like the coffee bar at the Washington Dulles Capital One Lounge, several details make this one feel uniquely New York.

The JFK bodega includes a full-service espresso bar serving handcrafted drinks made with locally roasted beans from Bean & Bean Coffee Roasters. You can pair your coffee with a made-to-order bagel from Ess-a-Bagel, another New York staple. Egg sandwiches, time-of-day-specific items, and more are also on the menu, and it’s all complimentary.

What’s also interesting is that Capital One understands that if you’re going to serve a bagel in New York, you have to do it right. Each day, rolled bagels are delivered to the lounge and baked fresh onsite. To ensure they meet true New York standards, Ess-a-Bagel will regularly train the lounge staff on proper color, texture, and preparation.

Full-service bar

Capital One's bar program at JFK is impressive, and not just because the bar itself is a sight to behold.

To bring it to life in New York, Capital One partnered with Unfiltered Hospitality to create a menu that reflects the best of the city. You’ll find handcrafted cocktails, unique spirits like The Spirit of JFK (an apple brandy from Laird and Company), and this location’s Perfect Airport Beer — a delicious Skyscraper IPA from local brewery Grimm Artisanal Ales.

There’s something for everyone at the bar, including rare and hard-to-find bottles for those who want to splurge, such as Prohibition-era gins and other vintage selections.

With so many interesting options, you may need several visits to JFK just to try everything.

Small plates

Like at other Capital One Lounges, the JFK location offers a variety of small plates. What sets this one apart, though, is that most of the items available for self-service are not hot dishes.

Instead, guests can order hot small plates directly to their table by scanning a QR code. While this adds an extra step between arriving and eating, the goal is to ensure your food is served warm and fresh. Capital One's initial menu includes:

  • Roasted heirloom tomato crostini
  • Everything-spiced deviled egg
  • Wild arugula panzanella salad
  • Chicken paillard
  • Summer succotash
  • Braised Berkshire pork shank
  • Rustic white bean and spinach soup
  • Mac and cheese

Lining the entryway to the dining room is a rotating selection of desserts and other self-serve items, including cookies, marbled coffee cake, and assorted refreshments.

Grab-and-go

If you’re short on time or just want something to take with you, the Capital One Lounge at JFK offers a variety of grab-and-go options. You’ll find sandwiches, salads, beverages, and other healthy choices in the glass case located in front of the bodega.

One notable difference at this lounge is that the items are stored behind the glass. If you’d like something, you’ll need to ask a staff member. According to Capital One, this isn’t due to overconsumption at other lounges; it’s simply to ensure guests receive a to-go bag and utensils if needed.

Capital One Lounge JFK Amenities

As Capital One’s new flagship lounge, the JFK location features a range of amenities. Some are exclusive to this outpost, while others are part of the standard offerings found across the issuer’s growing lounge network.

Daily rituals and late-night snacks

Daily rituals are Capital One’s tableside offerings that change based on the time of day. These experiences are delivered by a roaming trolley — a thoughtful way to mark different moments throughout the day.

  • Morning caffè shakerato: A shaken iced coffee, Italian-style, with the option to tweak it for dietary needs or spike it if you're in the mood
  • Afternoon tea service: Wellness teas and light pastries
  • Sunset sips: A champagne toast to golden hour
  • Midnight snack: Exclusive to JFK, this is a late-night comfort bite that will be available around 12:30 AM

Work rooms

If you need to take a conference call or get some work done during your layover, the JFK lounge has two private work rooms available. They’re located near the bar and don’t require an advance reservation.

There’s no official time limit, but Capital One encourages guests to keep their sessions to about 45 minutes so others can use the space. After each session, lounge staff will clean and reset the room before the next guest steps in.

Shower suite

Not all Capital One Lounges have showers, but the flagship lounge at JFK does. Guests have access to a single luxury shower suite, which can be reserved by scanning a QR code after entering the lounge.

Once you’re checked in, you’ll have 30 minutes to refresh. Inside, you’ll find amenities like a Dyson hair dryer, plush towels, and sustainable toiletries.

Private restrooms

At JFK, Capital One continues its commitment to offering private restrooms designed for one guest at a time, rather than using stalls in a shared space. The issuer believes this setup leads to a better overall experience. You’ll find seven of these private restrooms throughout the lounge.

Parents' room

If you're traveling with a little one, you can make use of the parents' room, located near the shower suite and the hallway of private restrooms. This space features helpful amenities, including a bottle warmer, changing table, comfortable seating, diapers, and complimentary Capital One–branded bibs.

High-speed Wi-Fi and power outlets

These days, it's almost unusual not to find high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets in a brand-new airport lounge. And this one, of course, has both. Whether you need to charge your devices or finish up some work, the JFK lounge makes it easy to do so.

Capital One Lounge JFK Video Tour

While it may not be the largest airport lounge in the U.S., the Capital One Lounge at JFK is still quite spacious, and the layout feels open and expansive. To give you a sense of the experience beyond photos, here’s a quick 90-second video walkthrough that starts at the entrance and ends at the cheesemonger counter:

Bottom Line

The lounge scene at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport is nothing short of competitive. Travelers passing through JFK have plenty of options, but the brand-new flagship Capital One Lounge will be one of the best the airport has to offer.

After all, where else at JFK — or any other airport — can you get a custom charcuterie board crafted by a trained cheesemonger, or sip a cocktail made with a locally-made spirit you won’t find anywhere else?

Credit: Tyler Glatt/AwardWallet

Suffice it to say, this lounge will quickly become a go-to for many travelers flying through New York’s busiest airport. But that also means it could become one of Capital One’s most consistently crowded lounges.

With that in mind, be sure to take advantage of Capital One’s digital waitlist tool and plan your visit ahead of time. And remember, this lounge is in Terminal 4. If you’re flying out of a different terminal, allow extra time to take the AirTrain and reclear security so you don’t miss your flight.

That said, I doubt anyone would mind missing a flight if it meant a little more time in the Capital One Lounge at JFK. It’s that special.
