Capital One just launched a brand-new transfer bonus to Qantas Frequent Flyer. Through May 31, 2025 — and actually into June 1 –cardholders will receive a 20% miles bonus when transferring Capital One miles to Qantas. This transfer bonus is hard-coded for all cards that earn Capital One miles, so you will receive 1,200 Qantas points for every 1,000 Capital One miles you transfer.
But should you initiate a transfer to Qantas? Here's what you need to know.
Capital One-Qantas Transfer Bonus Overview
- Receive a 20% bonus when you transfer Capital One miles to Qantas Frequent Flyer.
- The promotion is valid through June 1, 2025, 3:59 am. ET.
- You need to log in to your Capital One account to see the offer.
- The minimum transfer is 1,000 Capital One miles.
- Transfers of more than 1,000 miles can be made in increments of 100 miles.
- During this promotion, each 100 Capital One miles transferred will net 120 Qantas points.
- It may take up to 24 hours for the points to be credited to your account, but this can take longer in some situations.

Best Uses of Qantas Points
When it comes to using your Qantas points, you have lots of excellent options. Like many airline programs, some of your best options will be to use your Qantas points for partner awards. A glance at the Qantas Classic Rewards partner award chart and you can find some excellent sweet spots, including:
- Short domestic awards on American Airlines (under 600 miles) from 8,000 points one-way. That's just 6,700 Capital One miles during this transfer bonus. We've found over 1,200 qualifying routes at this pricing.
- American Airlines awards from the U.S. East Coast to Europe (flights under 3,600 miles) for 20,300 points (17,000 Capital One miles) in economy or 57,000 points (47,500 Capital One miles) in business class.
- U.S. West Coast to Japan on Japan Airlines from 30,200 points (25,200 Capital One miles) in economy or 75,000 points (62,500 Capital One miles) in business class.
- Business class awards from the U.S. East Coast to Tel Aviv on El Al from 90,000 points plus taxes and fees (75,000 Capital One miles).
However, one important caveat is that Qantas plans to devalue its award charts on August 5, 2025. You can still book at current rates until then, but this isn’t a transfer bonus worth using unless you have an immediate need for Qantas points.

Do Qantas Points Expire?
One thing to remember is that Qantas points do expire. Your Qantas points will expire if your account has no activity for 18 months. However, Qantas is relatively generous with what it considers “activity.” You can extend the validity of your Qantas points by transferring points in from Capital One or its other transfer partners. That means it should be easy to keep your points balance alive.
Our Take
This transfer bonus isn't earth-shattering, but it can make sense in the right circumstances. If you can justify it for yourself, ensure that you initiate your transfer before the bonus ends in the early morning hours on June 1, 2025.
Remember that this offer is unsuitable if you want to book an award immediately since it can take up to 24 hours for the points to hit your account. However, if you were planning on booking an award with Qantas soon, this promotion arrived in a timely manner and can be an excellent way to top up your Qantas account.
