You won't find notice of this anywhere on Capital One's website, but you can transfer your miles to TAP Miles & Go with a 15% bonus. This transfer bonus runs through June 30, 2023, and there's a maximum of 15,000 bonus miles. Here's what you should know if you want to take advantage of this offer.
Capital One to TAP Miles & Go Transfer Bonus – Key Terms
- Transfer Capital One miles to TAP Portugal with a 15% bonus.
- The promotion is valid for transfers through 11:59 p.m. (GMT) on June 30, 2023. That's 7:59 p.m. Eastern Time in the U.S.
- This transfer bonus is offered by TAP Miles & Go directly, meaning you won't see it on Capital One's website.
- Bonus miles will come in a separate transaction after a qualifying transfer.
- Bonus miles may take up to two business days to appear in your account.
- Receive up to 15,000 bonus miles from transfers.

One thing to keep in mind is that TAP is strict on account information matching. Ensure the details on your Miles & Go account and your Capital One account match exactly. Otherwise, your transfer may be delayed.
Maximizing Your TAP Portugal Miles & Go Miles
TAP Portugal has made several changes to its award chart over the last couple of years. But there are still ways you can find value. One-way awards from the U.S. to European and North African destinations served by TAP start from 29,000 miles plus taxes and fees in economy. With the promotion, this would require a transfer of 26k Capital One miles (since you must transfer in increments of 1,000).
However, the 100,000-mile pricing to book a business-class award is a significant jump and not a good use of your miles. And that's one-way pricing, making it even more painful.
Unlike other airlines, there are very few sweet spots for business-class awards in TAP's award chart.
You could fly from the U.S. to Asia one-way in business class for 100k Capital One miles, factoring in the 15% transfer bonus to get the 115k miles needed. Or you could fly to Europe / North Africa for 100,000 TAP Miles & Go miles; you'd need to transfer 87k Capital One miles for this.
Being a Star Alliance member, you can use Miles & Go miles to book awards across the network of airlines.
TAP also has several other partnerships with various airlines like GOL and Azul. By far the standout is Emirates, and there is some value to be had when booking Emirates business class awards — especially when you factor in that TAP does not pass on fuel surcharges. Transferring 115k Capital One miles to fly from the U.S. through Dubai to Oceania (all on Emirates' business class product) could make for a great trip.
Our Take
This is not the most generous promotion out there, and TAP Portugal is not the biggest airline program. However, there is still some value to be had if you know where to look, so consider your upcoming travel plans. If you can make this promotion work with them, then the deal can make sense. If it doesn’t work, pass it up and look for other opportunities to maximize your Capital One miles with other transfer partners.
