Only a few days have passed since the last credit card issuer announced plans for a new lounge in a major international airport. That was big news, but we're here bearing more. This morning, Chase shared the details about a new outpost coming soon to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders and Priority Pass members rejoice; you'll soon have access to the Chase Sapphire Lounge in LAX.

What We Know About the New Chase Sapphire Lounge at LAX

It's long been known that Chase wanted to expand its airport lounge footprint. With other card issuers debuting and drawing renderings of the next fanciest thing, it's a near necessity to compete.

That's why Chase planned to add several Sapphire lounges to its portfolio in airports across the United States this year alone. But of the places we expected — Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Phoenix (PHX), Las Vegas (LAS), and San Diego (SAN) — Los Angeles (LAX) wasn't on our bingo card.

So, today's news is a surprise, but we can't say we're upset about it.

Details on the new Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club are limited. Chase submitted a proposal to be approved in a meeting of the Los Angeles World Airports today, June 13, 2024. Unfortunately, a vote wasn't held on the proposal today. That means we will have to wait until the next meeting — expected in July — for approval.

That means there's no estimate on when this new lounge will open. But when it does, you can locate the planned 9,234-square-foot lounge within the Tom Bradley International Terminal near the gateway facility to the West Gates, near Gate 148.

Who can access the Chase Sapphire Lounge LAX?

Access to Chase Sapphire Lounges is limited to two groups: eligible cardholders and those with a Priority Pass Select membership. Chase-issued cards with complimentary access (and their guest policies) include:

Authorized users also get complimentary access to Chase Sapphire Lounges, courtesy of their Priority Pass credentials. Priority Pass Select members get one complimentary visit to a Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club location per calendar year.

Final Thoughts

It's always a good day when a credit card issuer unveils plans to open a new airport lounge. And once the Chase Sapphire Lounge in LAX opens its doors sometime in the future, there will be yet another place in a busy international airport where you can relax pre-flight. Given the lack of Priority Pass lounges at LAX, we expect this Chase outpost to be popular.
