The Fast Rise of Sonesta Hotels
Sonesta Hotels is quickly becoming one of the larger hotel chains in the U.S. At the beginning of 2020, Sonesta Hotels had 80 properties worldwide. Later that year and in 2021, Sonesta acquired over 200 IHG and Marriott hotels. In March 2021, Sonesta acquired all 900+ hotels from the Red Lion Hotels Corporation, leading to a total of more than 1,200 across 15 brands (seven for Sonesta and eight for Red Lion). Then, in June 2022, Sonesta franchised another 50 hotels.
Sonesta properties use the Sonesta Travel Pass rewards program. There are three tiers: Member, Preferred, and Elite. All three tiers earn 10 points per dollar spent at Sonesta properties. Tiers come with other perks, such as complimentary upgraded Wi-Fi (Member), early check-in and late check-out (Elite), and priority self-parking (Preferred). Also, there are additional perks at Sonesta Hotels and Resorts or Royal Sonesta properties for Elite status members.
At this time, Red Lion Hotels have yet to be incorporated into the Sonesta Travel Pass program. Hopefully, that will change in the near future, allowing members to earn and redeem points at all 1,200+ properties.
New members also can claim 1,000 bonus points when joining the Sonesta Travel Pass rewards program.

1,000 Bonus Sonesta Points per Night Promotion
This is an easy promotion: Use promo code TP1000 to earn 1,000 bonus points on your stay at a Sonesta property. There's no registration required, but this promotion is only valid at properties in the U.S. Bonus points will be credited to your account within two weeks of checkout. Applying the promo code won't increase or decrease the normal rate of the room. At this time, this promotion has no expiration date.

Sonesta Travel Pass members can book a free night at participating properties for as few as 10,000 points per night. However, this depends on the state and brand. Thus, 1,000 bonus points might get you 10% of the way to a free night.
