Each year, the U.S. Travel Association teams up with various travel businesses to offer limited-time deals to consumers. Daily Getaways, as it's called, is going on right now and will continue to offer deeply discounted deals through October 20, 2021.

Some of this year's promos look enticing, but let's take a closer look at them and see if any of these are actually a good deal.

Important Things to Know

First, there are a few key things to know about Daily Getaways.

  • Daily Getaways purchases are not processed by the individual travel entities providing the offers; therefore, if using a co-branded credit card, you will not receive any extra brand-related bonus points.
  • On the other hand, the offer should code as travel, so make sure to use a card with a travel spending category like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (3x Ultimate Rewards on travel purchases).
  • These deals can be incredibly hard to snag—especially the really good ones. Earlier in the promotion, for example, there was a deal on Hyatt points and it sold out almost immediately.
  • Deals go live each day at 1pm EST, so make sure to be set up and ready to go several minutes before the deal begins.
  • Make sure to read all the fine print before committing. Some of these offers can be quite restrictive.

October 13 – Wyndham Rewards

Members can purchase 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points for $175. This comes out to 1.17 CPP. There will be 766 available.

Wyndham points frequently go on sale for cheaper than this, so this isn't a particularly good value. For example, you can buy Wyndham points right now for a better price than what is available with the Daily Getaways promo.

The verdict: this is a garbage deal.

October 14 – Omni Hotels and Resorts

Omni hotels is a luxury hotel brand with properties scattered throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. For this promotion, you can purchase various vacation packages at select Omni properties. Certificates are good for a standard room.

Here are the deals:

2 Night Weekend Getaway – $175 (30 available)

1 Night at Omni Hotels and Resorts – $235 (15 available)

2 Night Weekend Escape – $245 (41 available)

2 Nights at Omni Hotels and Resorts – $335 (38 available)

1 Night at Omni Hotels and Resorts – $235 (15 available)

Whether this option is a good value or not will vary from person to person and from property to property. The certificates are quite restrictive—only specific properties are included, you must check-in on a Friday or Saturday, and there are blackout dates. Additionally, certificates expire December 30, 2022.

October 15 – Accor Hotels

Accor is offering several of its Ovation Rewards certificates at a discounted rate. Standard Ovation Rewards include a 1 night stay for up to 2 people in the specified room category with breakfast the following morning. Taxes, fees and gratuities are also included.

  • Luxurious San Juan Getaway – $1,400 | 4 certificates, each good for a one-night stay for two in a 1-bedroom suite. This package includes breakfast, taxes, gratuities, and resort fees.
  • Luxurious New York Getaway – $1,000 | 4 certificates, each good for a one-night stay at the Sofitel New York, for two people, in a 1-bedroom suite. This package includes breakfast, taxes, gratuities, and resort fees.
  • Luxurious Washington DC Getaway – $1,000 | 4 certificates, each good for a one-night stay for two in a 1-bedroom suite. This package includes breakfast, taxes, gratuities, and resort fees.
  • Luxurious Los Angeles Getaway – $1,700 | 4 certificates, each good for a one-night stay for up to two at the Fairmont Century Plaza. This is a Fairmont Gold level certificate—the most luxurious Oviation Reward level—so it includes breakfast and evening canapés, as well as luxurious room on the concierge-floor level. This package includes breakfast, taxes, gratuities, and resort fees.

These Accor certificates never expire, and there are no blackout dates.

October 18 – Best Western

Best Western is offering a deal to purchase 10,000 Best Western points for $55. That is a cost per point of just over half a cent each. There are 835 available and you can purchase up to 5 of these packages.

The best way to decide if this deal is a good one is to dig around Best Western, and check out properties that you are interested in. If the cash rate is on the higher end, then grabbing this deal can be a great option.

If you end up purchasing all 5 of these, you'll pay $275 for 50,000 Best Western points. Let's put this into perspective.

A room at the Best Western Plus Quartier Latin Pantheon in Paris, France costs $191.00 per night. Or you can use 24,000 Best Western points. If you stay two nights, you can either pay $382 or purchase your points through Daily Getaways for $275, which is enough to cover 2 nights and leave you with 2,000 remaining points.

For this example, Daily Getaways is the winner.

October 19 – The Venetian Resort

The Venetian Resort is located in the heart of the strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. For the Daily Getaways promotion, the Venetian is offering discounted rates for its luxurious suites – up to 50% off. There are two packages you can choose from:

  • 3 nights at the Venetian in a Grand One Bedroom Suite for $850. (20 available)
  • 3 nights in a Grand King suite at the Palazzo for $650. (30 available)

Blueprint of the layout of the Grand King Suite.

Packages include room tax and daily resort fees and are valid through December 27, 2022. Blackout dates may apply.

As you can see from the above calendar, which shows the nightly rates for suites, this offer can be a good deal or it can be a dud. It really depends on the dates you would like to say. If you have set dates and the prices are on the more expensive side, it can make sense to snag the Daily Getaway deal.

October 20 – Marriott Hotels

Marriott Bonvoy is offering gift cards at a 20% discount. This offer isn't unique and is offered directly from Marriott on occasion. But, if you have a paid stay coming up and want to save some extra cash, this can definitely be worth it.

You can buy up to 3 gift cards.

Gift cards do not expire. According to a customer representative for Marriott, there is no limit to the number of Marriott gift cards you can use in a transaction.

Final Thoughts

It's great to see Daily Getaways back this year! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Daily Getaways did not run in 2020, and we missed these deals. Not all of the options are great, but there are a few that can make sense. Make sure to do your research beforehand, though, to make sure the deal is actually saving you money. And be ready to buy before the deal goes live at 1pm ET because some of these go fast.

What do you think of these Daily Getaways offers this year?
