Delta Business Platinum Amex Welcome Bonus
New cardholders of the Delta Business Platinum Amex can earn 70,000 bonus miles after spending $6,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership. While the spending requirement is higher on this business card then its personal card counterpart (the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card), you'll have 6 months to meet the minimum spending requirement. It's also assumed that business owners have more spending to put on their business credit card than most consumers.
To get an idea of what this bonus is worth, recent AwardWallet user redemptions show Delta miles are worth 1.34¢ on average. That makes this bonus worth $938.

Travel protections
The Delta Business Platinum Amex comes with three types of travel protections.
Trip delay insurance is available when your round-trip travel is delayed for a covered reason for more than 12 hours. Certain expenses qualify for reimbursement up to $300 per trip with a maximum of two claims per card in 12 months. You must pay for the entire trip with your card to be covered.
Baggage insurance will provide up to $1,250 for carry-on baggage and up to $500 for checked baggage if your bag is lost, damaged, or stolen while traveling on a common carrier vehicle (such as a plane, train, ship, or bus). This is in addition to coverage provided by the carrier.
And lastly, car rental loss and damage insurance lets you decline coverage from the car rental agency. With the Delta Business Platinum Amex, you're covered for damage to or theft of a rental car in a covered territory, but this is secondary coverage, and you need to pay with this card for coverage to be in effect.

Redeeming Miles With the Delta Business Platinum Amex
Delta SkyMiles earned with the Delta Business Platinum Amex are deposited directly into your SkyMiles account. From there, you have a few options for redeeming your miles.

Redeem your miles for award flights
Delta often requires a lot of miles for an award flight. In fact, it's usually a better idea to redeem partner miles, such as Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points, for Delta flights than to redeem SkyMiles for the same flights.
Delta doesn't have a published award chart anymore, but we've compiled an “unofficial” chart that you can reference here. There are still some Delta award sweet spots to be found when redeeming SkyMiles, however, like on flights to the Caribbean and Central and South America.
You also can redeem SkyMiles for seat upgrades, to pay for premium drinks onboard, ticket change fees, and more.
Book a Delta Vacations package
Delta Vacations allows you to bundle your Delta flights with a hotel and/or rental car. The great thing about a vacation package from Delta is that you can redeem SkyMiles to pay for your trip. You also can earn SkyMiles toward Medallion Status from these bookings.
SkyMiles Experiences and more
You can even use SkyMiles to bid on experiences, such as private shopping, music festivals, and dining experiences. And finally, you can redeem SkyMiles for magazine subscriptions, though that's not the best use of your airline miles.
Application Restrictions
Amex is notorious for “lifetime” language in its terms and conditions. This means you are eligible to receive the welcome offer bonus on each different American Express credit card only once in your life. Because of this, you'll want to be sure that you're getting the best possible bonus when apply for an Amex card.
Additionally, last year Amex instituted a new rule that currently only pertains to personal Delta Amex cards. This new language says that, depending on the card you are applying for, you may not be eligible to receive the bonus if you've had other Delta Amex credit cards in the past — thanks to so-called “card family restrictions.” Thankfully, this doesn't yet apply to Delta Amex business credit cards.
Amex also has rules for how often you can apply for its cards, and you can only hold five Amex credit cards at any time.

Bottom Line
The Delta Business Platinum Amex is a valuable mid-tier business card for Delta loyalists. It's not the best option for those who truly value a premium travel experience, but it can get you to status if you use the card often enough, and the card has perks for business owners who regularly fly Delta. For those looking for more perks than what an entry-level card offers but a lower fee than what a premium card levies, this might provide the happy medium you're looking for.
