In March 2022, Delta and Instacart launched a new partnership offering members SkyMiles on every dollar spent on Instacart purchases. Delta SkyMiles members could also get a complimentary Instacart+ membership. However, less than two years after being launched, the Delta-Instacart partnership is already coming to an end.
Instacart has already scrubbed most mentions of the partnership from its website and is no longer allowing members to link their Delta account to get a free Instacart+ membership. However, SkyMiles members who previously linked their accounts can take advantage of this promotion through November 10, 2023.
If you missed out on this partnership, the good news is that you still have opportunities to get a free Instacart+ membership.
Delta and Instacart Partnership Promotion
Through the Delta partnership with Instacart, SkyMiles members could enroll to earn 1 SkyMile for every $1 spent on Instacart orders — excluding taxes, tips, and fees. Instacart previously rewarded Instacart+ members with 1.5x SkyMiles per dollar spent through June 30, 2023.
Now, Instacart has eliminated its partnership page and its dedicated linking page for Delta SkyMiles members. However, members who had already linked their accounts can still take advantage of this partnership before the November 10, 2023 end date.
Instacart+ for Delta Elite Members
In addition to getting SkyMiles on all purchases, Delta elite members could enroll to get a complimentary Instacart+ account:
- Delta Platinum and Diamond Medallion Members could claim a complimentary 12-month Instacart+ membership.
- Delta Silver and Gold Medallion Members could claim a complimentary 3-month Instacart+ membership.
Unfortunately, Instacart has already eliminated the ability to link your Delta SkyMiles account. If you want to give it a try:
- Log in to your Instacart account.
- Select the three horizontal lines in the upper left-hand corner.
- Select Your Instacart+ membership.
- Under Special offers, look for Delta SkyMiles.
- Select Redeem.
Other Ways of Getting Free Instacart+ Membership
While this Instacart-Delta partnership and a similar Instacart-Hilton partnership have already ended, Instacart still has other active partnerships with Chase and Mastercard.
Many Chase Freedom, Slate, and Sapphire cardholders can enroll to get free Instacart+ membership plus statement credits through Chase — depending on the card you carry. Here's a short list of qualifying cards:
- Chase Freedom Flex℠ — 3 months free plus a $10 statement credit each quarter.
- Chase Freedom Unlimited® — 3 months free plus a $10 statement credit each quarter.
- Chase Slate Edge℠ — 3 months free plus a $10 statement credit each quarter.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card — 6 months free plus a $15 statement credit each quarter.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® — 12 months free plus a $15 statement credit each month.
Even better, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a great card to use for your Instacart purchases. You'll earn 3X Ultimate Rewards from the purchase, in addition to the SkyMiles earned from linking your Delta account.
If you don't have a qualifying Chase card, you can enroll to get two free months of Instacart+ through Mastercard.
Instacart currently offers shopping at over 1,400 retailers with more than 80,000 stores across 5,500 cities in North America, including wholesale stores like Costco and Sam's Club. Instacart is often better than other online shopping services, due to its low delivery fee: Only $3.99 on orders over $35. The delivery fee is waived for Instacart+ members for orders over $35. Instacart+ members also receive reduced service fees and 5% back on eligible pickup orders.
