IHG has announced a new partnership with GrubHub and OpenTable. You will be able to earn IHG points when you make a reservation with either service. The new partnership with OpenTable is live in the US and will expand to the UK and Australia by the end of 2017.
How Grubhub Works
When ordering through GrubHub, the key terms are as follows:
- Orders must be made through an IHG channel including IHG app, IHG website, and IHG Connect
- To earn points, you must be staying at one of the following IHG brands in the U.S.: Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites® and Candlewood Suites®.
- Earn 500 points for your first order
- Earn 250 points for subsequent orders
How OpenTable Works
When ordering through OpenTable, the key terms are as follows:
- Orders must be made through an IHG channel including IHG app, IHG website, and IHG Connect
- You will not earn OpenTable points if you book through this promotion
- You do not need to be staying at an IHG property to earn points
- Earn 500 points for your first order
- Earn 300 points for subsequent orders when booking a restaurant at an IHG Hotel
- Earn 150 points for subsequent bookings at other restaurants
- Book through OpenTable IHG Link
How Good is The Deal?
The OpenTable partnership is far more interesting than the GrubHub deal since you have to be staying at an IHG hotel to earn points when ordering from GrubHub. The OpenTable partnership also provides more variety and earning potential, from the various Michelin starred restaurants located in IHG properties around the world to more local eateries.
Our Take
This new deal is a welcome addition; it is always great to see options for earning points while dining increased. Ultimately, everyone has to eat every day. Even though IHG already has its own dining program, these expanded options, particularly at some very high-end restaurants, are a nice bonus.
