Hilton has partnered with Delta to offer Hilton Honors members complimentary Silver and Gold Medallion status for six months, with an option to extend through January 2026. And now, Delta is offering SkyMiles members complimentary six-month Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond status.

These are targeted offers, but if you're eligible, you must activate your status by December 31, 2024. Here's how.

Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond Status for Targeted Delta SkyMiles Members

Hilton and Delta have beefed up their partnership with targeted offers for complimentary SkyMiles elite status for select existing Hilton Honors members. You can claim Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond status for six months if you receive an email invitation.

Targeted Delta SkyMiles members must claim this offer through the link in their email by December 31, 2024. Depending on the offer, they can get either Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond status, which is valid for six months after activation.

How to maintain Hilton Honors Elite status past the trial period

After activating the complimentary Elite status, SkyMiles members have reduced requirements to maintain the status through March 31, 2026.

  • Stay 15 nights during the trial status period to maintain Hilton Honors Gold status.
  • Stay 25 nights during the trial status period to maintain Hilton Honors Diamond status.

These requirements are pretty steep compared to the ongoing non-Delta-affiliated Hilton status match. Before committing to the Delta option, compare your options — including opening a Hilton Honors credit card. It's possible you can unlock the same or better Hilton status with less effort.

Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond Status Benefits

Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond statuses come with some nice benefits. Gold status includes 80% bonus points (18X points per dollar), a fifth free night on rewards stays (a Silver status benefit), complimentary room upgrades up to the executive level as available, and daily F&B credit.

Diamond status comes with 100% bonus points (20X points per dollar), complimentary room upgrades up to the standard suites as available, executive lounge access, premium WiFi, 48-hour room guarantee, and Elite status gifting.

Delta Medallion Status for Targeted Hilton Honors Members

On the flip side of the partnership, targeted Hilton Honors members have received emails offering a six-month complimentary Delta Silver or Gold Medallion status. Check your email to see if you have the offer, and if so, click through the link to unlock your status by December 31, 2024. The email will indicate whether you can receive complimentary Silver or Gold Medallion status for six months.

Remember that this is a private offer only for targeted Hilton Honors members who received the email. And from what we can tell, it's only open to those who achieved Hilton status organically — not via credit card.

You can still try your luck and attempt to unlock the status through the link — even if you didn't get the email or think you're not targeted. But if you weren't targeted, you'll get an error message.

How to maintain Delta status past the trial period

Members who wish to extend their complimentary status through the end of the 2025 Medallion year (January 31, 2026) can do so after earning a reduced number of MQDs during the 6-month complimentary period.

  • $2,000 MQDs to maintain Silver Medallion status
  • $4,000 MQDs to maintain Gold Medallion status

If you're unfamiliar with Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs), this guide will teach you what they are and how to earn them. With the right strategy, it's possible you can extend your Delta status with little effort. And you may not even have to step on a Delta plane.

Delta Silver and Gold Medallion Benefits

Delta Silver Medallion status is light on benefits but can help you save money on your future Delta travel. You'll enjoy 7X SkyMiles per dollar spent on eligible flights, a first checked bag free benefit (for you and up to eight travel companions), priority check-in, Hertz Gold Plus Five Star status, and more.

On the other hand, Gold Medallion is arguably Delta's elite status sweet spot. Delta Gold status comes with 8X SkyMiles per dollar spent on eligible flights, higher priority boarding, complimentary upgrades (if you're really lucky), access to preferred seats, a discounted CLEAR Plus membership, SkyTeam Elite Plus status, and a few additional benefits.

Our Take

If you received any of these emails, this is an excellent opportunity to attain elite status with Hilton Honors or SkyMiles. Check your spam folder for the opportunity. Otherwise, try unlocking your status directly with this link for Hilton Honors or this link for Delta SkyMiles.

We haven't found a clear indication of how Hilton Honors or SkyMiles members are targeted for these offers. Nor is it clear if they are only for existing elite status members. If you were among those lucky enough to be targeted with either of these offers, just remember to activate your status by December 31, 2024.
