This IHG Accelerate promotion has ended, however, please review the most recent promotion.

IHG has announced its latest Accelerate Promotion for the Summer of 2017. Like other Accelerate promotions, it is “Game like” with tasks you need to compete to earn bonus points. The primary objective is to get you to stay as many nights as possible at an IHG property, and this time my stay requirements are quite high.

Promotion Overview

The promotion runs from May 15, 2017, through August 31, 2017. You must complete your tasks during that time window. Bear in mind that these promotions are targeted, and you can expect to see a different Accelerate promotions with different tasks. First, you need to register for the IHG Accelerate promotion and complete all your tasks in line with the overall terms and condition of the promotion.

IHG Accelerate Promotion Summer 2017

My current promotion has the following 8 tasks:

  • 3,000 points early stay bonus for completing a stay before June 30, 2017
  • 2,500 points bonus for a one night stay
  • 5,000 points bonus after staying 4 nights
  • 3,000 points bonus after staying 7 nights
  • 3,000 points bonus after staying 10 nights
  • 3,000 points bonus after staying 13 nights
  • 3,000 points bonus after staying 16 nights
  • 15,000 points bonus after staying 19 nights

By completing the whole Promotion, I can earn a total of 37,500 bonus points for stays of 19 nights; the nights can be either individual or in a continuous stay.

Worthy Promotion?

With the promotion occurring over the Summer months, it is clear that IHG is aiming to tempt people to move over some of their summer vacation stays to IHG properties, which is why at least my promotion is so heavy on the number of nights required. Consider that the Winter Accelerate promotion only needed stays of 4-5 nights to earn 30,000 to 41,000 points depending on which Accelerate promotion you had. Clearly, the IHG Summer promotion is not as lucrative as the last Winter promotion.

Overall

While not being as lucrative as the past promotion, there is still some good value to be had, since you earn the bonus points for the tasks you complete even if you don’t finish the promotion. One night before June 30, 2017, will make me 5,500 points which are enough for a one night with the current IHG PointBreaks Promotion. Besides, earning some points will keep points from expiring. I have registered for the promotion and will pick up some easy bonus points, but the question is will I complete it? Highly unlikely! How far do you think you will go with this IHG Accelerate promotion?

  • Now that IHG are occasionally willing to sell points for less than 0.5 cents, that also makes these Accelerate promotions less and less valuable. (not really surprising, since so many points in issue is eventually going to lead to a devaluation)

  • This is a personalized promotion. My Offer of Accelerate Summer gives an opportunity to earn 92500 additional points. That too, this can be done by staying on 19 nights, i.e. about 5K bonus per night. I am just getting crazy over “Accelerate” this year

  • Neither mine, nor the wife’s offers were at all compelling, and offer no motivation whatsoever to credits stays to IHG. Maybe next time.

  • My offers aren’t terrible, but honestly I’ve had much better on many occasions. Hopefully this isn’t a sign of things to come.

  • My promotion not motivating enough to move stays to IHG

  • I’ve signed up! Yeay! This summer is finally a time for me to travel and explore! Thank you for this! I have not gotten any email on this so it’s nice to know early and get it set up.

  • I used to like IHG promotions, not so much anymore. They can do better!

  • bulstrode says:

I got 1,000 points for first night’s stay,
3,200 points for booking 2 stay(s) with the IHG® App,
3,600 for 1 Bonus Points Package.
19,200 for stays at 3 brands,
    6,000 for 6 nights,
and 14,000 for completing of 4 of the 5 offers.
Looks like I got it this time at ease

  • My wife and I will each credit at least one night before June 30th for the 5500 bonus points. With all the airline and hotel devaluations I try not to keep large balances in my accounts.

  • Not likely to take advantage of this as the IHG properties near us are so run-down that we are afraid to book them elsewhere

  • MY OFFER

Earn 3,600 bonus points when you book 1 Bonus Points Package stay.
Stay once and earn 1,000 bonus points.
Stay 2 time(s) using your corporate rate and earn 2,500 bonus points.
stay 5 night(s) and earn 5,000 bonus points.
Stay 2 nights at any InterContinental® Hotels and Resorts in Asia Pacific (excluding China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau), the Middle East, and Africa and earn 2,800 bonus points.
Complete 4 of the 5 offers and earn an additional 25,100 bonus points.

Stay once before 30 June and get 2,500 bonus points.

TOTAL 42 500 POINTS ( Not bad looking at some of the Offers )

  • I definitely plan to take advantage of it this time around.

  • Not a great hotel selection near me but I think its worth at least 1 stay to get the extra bonus points

  • My offer is basically stay 5 nights for 45000 points.

  • The_Bouncer says:

The more you stay and the more promotions you fulfil, the harder they get (makes sense, really).

  • Not very attractive this promo.
Anyway, I usually book well in advance and consider the location, the service and the price in my choice. Only in the end I take into consideration the loyalty and the points.

  • my past offers were much better than the present one, so I will pass on this.

  • Not very lucrative offer for me this time round. Basically, just 1000 bonus points per night but It is better than nothing, I guess

  • My wife got the same promotion as you and stayed only 1 night last year. I stayed over 50 nights at IHG and got a much better promotion (though not as good as the winter promo)

    Stay Once Get 2,500 (2,500)
Stay More Earn More (Stay 16 nights for 32,000)
Be the Readiest (Stay at 2 HIX brands for 5,600)
A Bonus Weekend Stay (Stay 2 weekend nights for 4,000)
Stay a Little Longer (Stay 4 consecutive nights for 6,000)
    Spend on IHG card (1,500)
    Redeem Points (1,000)
Complete 6 of the above 7 offers for 10,000
Stay before June 30 for 3,000

    Total of 65,600 available points.

  • Have not had a decent Accelerate offer sinc the first time it was rolled out.

  • I’ve got really impossible offers for my stays pattern, but I also got 500 points for app downloading. Better than nothing

  • 2000 points for first night’s stay,
    12000 for 8 nights
3400 points for booking 2 stay(s) with the App,
    12000 for 2 weekends
3600 for 1 Bonus Points Package.
    1000 for redeeming points
11000 for 5 out of 6 offers and
2500 for staying 1 night before June 30th.
    Hmmm, not great.

    • 47,500 for 8 nights isn’t too bad. Nearly 6k bonus per night. I would trade my 16 night requirement for 65,600 for your offer. Don’t know if I will meet the 16 nights to get 32k of the points. Probably will be more like 10 nights and end up with 33,600. It would be nice to get a better offer, but on the other hand if they are giving points away like candy then that just leads to more devaluation.

      • of course it depends on the travel plans, what I am least excited about are the 12000 for 2 weekends and
3600 for 1 Bonus Points Package. I travel for business during the week, thus WE and bonus points are not for me (corporate rate requirement). net 26000 (WE, bonus and 5 out of 6) out of 47500 are out of reach for me.

  • Pieter-Jan says:

48.300 for 3 nights, will get this for sure 🙂

    • Nice. Are you a long-time member? Have you participated in this promo before? What is your stay pattern?

  • kyle s engman says:

I just got email from IHG that if I complete 1 stay before august 6 I get 10,000 bonus points this is incredible

  • Thanks for the information, AW! Just took advantage of the Spring 2017 promotion and got a nifty 73,000 bonus points in total.

Just a heads up for those who missed the last promo or registering for the first time: it takes quite a while for the bonus credit to be posted to their system, the small bonuses (such as paying once with your IHG credit card for example), post within 3-5 business days. The largest bonuses in amounts over 10,000 took about 10 business days to post for me. So for those that are completing these promotions just right before they end, don’t panic if the credits haven’t been posted even though the deadline has lapsed – there’s a deferred time period and they will eventually be credited.

  • My offer only added up to 10,500, but you know I downloaded the app for the easy & free 500 points.

  • Download the app, I suppose that’s an easy 500 points
