Marriott offers several ways to make your points go further. Whether you choose Cash + Points awards or the fifth night free benefit, there are options to squeeze more value from your Marriott Bonvoy points — even when dynamic award pricing is working against you.
One lesser-known way to save points is through a Marriott PointSavers award. However, these aren't as easy to find as in the past.
Here's what to know about Marriott PointSavers awards, and how they can save you thousands of points on your next redemption.
What Are PointSavers Awards?
PointSavers awards allow Marriott Bonvoy members to save points on standard or premium room redemptions at top destinations worldwide. When you book an award stay at a property offering a PointSavers rate, you can get up to 20% off the standard points rate.
However, these discounts last for a limited time. Participation in and availability of PointSavers awards are at the discretion of each property. That generally means you only find PointSaver award rates during off-peak dates for the property. For example, the Le Meridien Maldives has often put nights on PointSavers during the Maldives rainy season.
These discounts are few and far between, so don't expect dozens of options while scrolling through the search results. You might see one or two in any given city, if you see any at all. But the more flexible you are, the better the chance you'll find a hotel that offers PointSavers.
How to find and book Marriott PointSavers properties
Unfortunately, there's no easy way to find a PointSavers deal. Marriott once maintained a list of participating hotels and eligible dates, with new deals added weekly. That list disappeared when Marriott changed from a fixed award chart to dynamic award pricing.
To discover a PointSavers award, search for a stay as you normally would on Marriott's website and check the “Use Points/Awards” box.
PointSavers awards only appear in the results when searching on the desktop site. If you are using the Marriott Bonvoy app, all search results will show the standard rate. The discounted PointSavers rate appears only after selecting a room. Because of this, the desktop site is usually the easiest way to search for PointSavers stays.

Once you click “Find Hotels,” you'll easily be able to identify whether a property offers a PointSavers rate. The cost of the stay will appear in green instead of black, and “PointSavers” will display above the price.
For example, searching for all hotels in London could help you find a PointSavers rate, whereas going straight to the London Marriott Hotel Kensington's website might make it more difficult.

Once you've identified a PointSavers rate in the search results, select your hotel and click “View Rates.” Next, select your room type from the available options.
While the PointSavers rate often applies only to standard rooms, you may occasionally see it available for premium room types.

After you click “Select,” you'll confirm your details and complete the booking just as you would with any other reservation.
How Much Does a PointSavers Award Cost?
PointSavers awards are discounted by up to 20% off the award price. Since Marriott uses dynamic award pricing, the base price and the discounted rate will vary from night to night.
If you want to stretch your Marriott points further, you can stack the PointSavers rate with Marriott's fifth night free perk on award stays. That perk grants you the cheapest night free when you redeem points for a stay of at least five consecutive nights at the same hotel.
For example, you could book a five-night stay at the Castle Hotel, Autograph Collection in Orlando for 104,800 points. After factoring in the fifth night free perk and 20% PointSavers discount, you'll pay just 20,960 Marriott Bonvoy points per night — almost 10,000 points less than the standard 30,000 points per night rate.

If you have flexibility in your hotel choice, it's still worth comparing the PointSavers rate against the standard award rates for other hotels, along with paid rates. AwardWallet members typically redeem Marriott points at 0.93¢ each, so even a discounted PointSavers booking may not deliver the best overall value.
For example, three nights in a king room with executive lounge access at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London may cost 338,000 points per stay at the PointSavers rate. If you were to pay in cash, you'd spend £1,508, including taxes and fees (roughly $2,045). That gives you a valuation of 0.6 cents per point, which is lower than the average redemption for AwardWallet users.
Meanwhile, a one-bedroom suite at the Residence Inn Marriott Tower Bridge would cost £744 (~$1,009), or 144,000 Bonvoy points for a standard redemption — a value of 0.7 cents per point. This shows you that you shouldn't always book a room just because it's discounted through PointSavers.

Final Thoughts
Marriott PointSavers can be a fantastic way to save on your next redemption. The downside: There's no easy way to identify which properties are offering PointSavers awards. So, when you stumble across one, it's a welcome surprise.
Thanks to PointSavers, I recently booked a stay at the Aloft Asuncion for just 5,200 points per night. In my mind, that's basically free.
PointSavers requires a bit of luck, as both your destination and your travel dates need to align to take advantage of the discounted rate. Still, the savings can add up to several thousand points per stay. Better yet, Marriott doesn’t limit how often you can book PointSavers awards.
