Marriott offers several ways to make your points go further. You can take advantage of Marriott Cash + Points awards and squeeze in an extra night or two with your points or hunt down a hotel offering the PointSavers awards, an option we'll explore in this post.
What Are PointSavers Awards?
PointSavers awards allow Marriott Bonvoy members to save points on standard or premium room redemptions in top destinations around the world.
When you book an award stay at a property offering the PointSavers rate, you can get up to 20% off the redemption rate. The PointSavers rate at each participating property is only available for a limited period of time. Participation in and availability of PointSavers awards are at the discretion of each property.
For instance, booking a room at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel will cost 35,200 points — rather than the 44,000-point standard rate if PointsSavers wasn't available.
How To Find Marriott PointSavers Properties
Marriott Bonvoy used to maintain a list of hotels participating in PointSavers and the dates they were available, with new deals added every week to a list found here. However, the list went away when Marriott changed its redemptions from award categories to dynamic pricing.
Now that Marriott no longer publishes the list of rotating PointsSavers properties, there's no easy way find properties offering PointSavers. In order to find the PointSavers rate, you can search for a stay using points; if the discounted rate is available, it will be shown among the list of options.
You'll have the most success with PointSavers if you have flexibility in the specific hotel you book in your destination. For example, searching simply for “Los Angeles” could help you find a PointSavers rate, rather than searching for a specific hotel in Los Angeles.
How Much Does a PointSavers Award Cost?
PointSavers awards are discounted by up to 20%.
The PointsSavers rate can be used with Marriott's fifth-night-free perk on award stays. When you redeem points for a stay of at least five consecutive nights at the same hotel, you'll get the cheapest night free.
If you have flexibility in your hotel choice, you may still want to compare the PointSavers rate with the standard award rates for other hotels, along with the cash rates. AwardWallet members typically redeem Marriott points at 0.94¢ each, so the PointSavers redemption may not be the best value for your points even at a discounted rate.
Earning Points To Redeem for PointSavers Awards

How To Book a Marriott PointSavers Award
Booking a PointSavers award stay works exactly like a standard award reservation. We'll use London as an example to see if any hotels are offering the PointSavers rate.
Go to the Marriott website and enter your destination and specific dates of travel. Check the box that says “Use Points/Certificates.” If you select “My dates are flexible” instead of inputting specific dates, you won't be able to identify the properties offering the PointSavers rate from the list of results.
If the PointSavers rate is available on the dates requested, you will see the discount already applied to properties in the list of results.
It's important to note this discount only appears on the results page when searching on the desktop site. If you are using the Marriott Bonvoy app, all properties will show the standard rate in the results. The PointsSavers rate will only show on the app when you click on “Select Room” for the hotel. So for that reason, it's best to use the desktop site for searching.
Once you've identified a PointSavers rate in the results, select your hotel and click “View Rates.” Then, you will select your room type from this list of available options. Often, the PointSavers rate applies to the standard room, but, occasionally, you may see the rate available on a premium room type. After you click “Select,” you will confirm your details and complete your booking.
Bonus: You earn elite night credits when booking a PointSavers rate.
Final Thoughts
While PointSavers has lost its luster since Marriott Bonvoy's change to dynamic pricing, it does still exist. There is no longer a list of participating properties and dates for PointSavers around which you can plan a trip. Also, there's no easy way to find which properties are offering PointSavers without searching different destinations and dates.
PointSavers has essentially become a deal that requires a little bit of luck, as both your destination and your travel dates need to align to take advantage of the discounted rate. However, if you do happen upon the rate, it can save you several thousand points. And luckily, there's no limit to how often you can book these discounted awards.
