Star Alliance announced the opening of its first branded lounge in Asia. The new lounge opened in Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN). It is on the large side, measuring 8,072 square feet, and can accommodate up to 100 guests at a time.

New Star Alliance Lounge Features
Looking at the lounge pictures, it seems typical of many airport lounges. In addition to being new, it looks on the more upscale side of lounges. The lounges have the usual offerings, including a bar area, a buffet serving light bites, and items inspired by local cuisine.
The lounge also features workstations and a private meeting room for large groups. In terms of amenities, lounge patrons can also freshen up in state-of-the-art shower suites.
The lounge will also feature a special Tea Appreciation Corner, which will be available on special occasions and will celebrate the region's unique tea culture.

- First-class passengers on Star Alliance member-operated flights.
- Business Class travelers on Star Alliance member-operated flights.

Our Take
The bottom line is that in an era of lounge overcrowding, every new piece of lounge real estate that opens its doors is excellent news. With its proximity to Hong Kong and the many businesses in the area, the lounge might be worth visiting when you pass through.
