Virgin Voyages, the premium, lifestyle, adults-only cruise line within the Virgin Group, does cruising differently. You won’t find kids, buffets, or traditional entertainment like you would on other cruise lines.
With just four ships in its fleet, the company still offers a wide range of sailings across Europe, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, plus transatlantic and Panama Canal crossings. As of 2026, Virgin Voyages has also expanded to the U.S. West Coast, including Alaska sailings aboard its newest ship, Brilliant Lady.
But one of the best things about Virgin Voyages is that it plays within the larger Virgin sandbox, alongside brands like Virgin Hotels and Virgin Atlantic. And that’s a big deal. If you’ve got points sitting in Virgin Red or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, you can use them to book a sailing.
Here’s how to book a Virgin Voyages cruise with points, plus how to earn the points you’ll need.
How to Book a Virgin Voyage Using Points
Virgin Voyages currently offers dozens of sailings bookable with Virgin points. Prices range from just 195,000 points to as much as 1.32 million points per cabin. Departures run through May 2028, though availability is limited since many sailings sell out early.
Pricing is per cabin and covers up to two guests in a Central Sea Terrace cabin. Unlike some cruise lines, solo sailors generally won’t see a discounted rate outside of occasional promotions. Every Virgin Voyages sailing is adults-only and all-inclusive, meaning your booking covers food (at specialty restaurants), soft drinks, group fitness classes, entertainment, Wi-Fi, and more. Even the roughly $150 to $200 in port taxes and fees are already baked into the price.
The only extras you might want to budget for are things like alcoholic drinks, specialty coffee, upgraded Wi-Fi for video calls, Shore Things (excursions), spa treatments, and similar add-ons. Points bookings fall under the Essential Voyage Fare, which offers a bit of flexibility.
There’s no set booking deadline, but availability is first-come, first-served.

| 7-night cruise, Southern Caribbean Holiday Cruise | 295k points |
Virgin Voyages also offers some once-in-a-lifetime sailings that you can book with points, though you’re probably better off paying cash than burning seven figures worth of points:
- 15-night cruise, Eclipse in the Land of Fire and Ice — 1,320,000 points
- 13-night cruise, Iceland, Greenland, Canada & NYC — 1,225,000 points
- 12-night cruise, Total Eclipse of the Mediterranean — 1,045,000 points
- 10-night cruise, Starry Nights in Greece & Croatia — 745,000 points
It’s also worth reiterating that availability changes constantly. If one of these catches your eye, it’s best to act fast before it disappears.

It’s interesting to see how pricing has evolved, too. In the past, some of these same cruises were bookable for under 100,000 points. Whether we’ll ever see those rates again is anyone’s guess. That said, pricing has come down from the 280,000-point floor we saw last summer.
Relevant terms and conditions
There are a few key terms and conditions to keep in mind:

- Pricing is per cabin (one or two guests); there’s no single-sailor discount
- Once an Access Key is redeemed, no changes or refunds are allowed
- These deals are exclusive to Virgin Red members, but it’s free to join
Steps to Booking a Virgin Voyage With Points
To redeem points for a cruise, log in to Virgin Red, choose your preferred voyage, and select a sailing date from the drop-down menu. Pricing varies by date. From there, tap Redeem. On the checkout page, you’ll enter the primary passenger’s details. You can add the second sailor later. Before finalizing, double-check the voyage and passenger details, accept the required terms, and tap Redeem now.

After booking, you’ll get a Voyages Booking Reference along with your cabin details. This information will be emailed to you and is also available in the “My Rewards” section of the Virgin Red website or app.
Next, log in to your Virgin Voyages account or create one if you don’t already have it. Then, link your booking using the Voyages Booking Reference. You can add or update the second passenger’s details directly with Virgin Voyages up to 48 hours before departure.
At that point, you’re all set to sail.
Is It Worth Booking a Virgin Voyage With Points?
On average, AwardWallet users redeem Virgin points for a whopping 3.57¢ apiece on flights. Thus, redeeming 200,000 points for a cruise means you're spending points that could be redeemed for more than $6,000 worth of flights.
We've noted in a prior article some of the sweet spots for Virgin Atlantic points, and considering that some business class flights can be had for as few as 25,000 points, you might be better off holding off on using points for these Voyages. Those points can be used for luxurious travel to get you to your departure city.
If you’re leaning toward paying cash, it’s also worth booking through a travel advisor, or “First Mate” in Virgin lingo. They can sometimes unlock better pricing or toss in a few extra onboard perks. I may be partial, but my husband Jon Nickel-D’Andrea is one heck of a great first mate if I do say so myself!

And don’t forget, you’ve got other booking options, too. You can book Virgin Voyages through Delta Cruises or other cruise portals, as well as directly with Virgin Voyages. All that to say, it’s worth comparing both the points and cash rates and what’s included, like perks from booking through an advisor, before locking in your sailing.
Easy Ways to Earn More Virgin Points
There are plenty of ways to rack up Virgin points, but for most readers, the easiest method is transferring points from major rewards programs:
Most of these partnerships are directly with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club instead of Virgin Red. To use Flying Club points to book Virgin Voyages cruises, you must first link your Flying Club account to Virgin Red.

Final Thoughts
While you might not get the absolute best value from your Virgin points by using them for cruises instead of flights or hotel stays, it’s still great to have options.
Some Virgin Voyages sailings really are once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like eclipse itineraries, Red Hot sailings, or the upcoming Sisters at Sea four-ship meetup. In those cases, you might be more willing to use points instead of paying out of pocket.
That said, pricing can get pretty steep. You’ll find some cruises priced at well over a million points. At that level, it’s usually worth considering paying cash instead and saving your points for higher-value redemptions. If you do so, you should make sure to find a First Mate who can help you get extra perks and freebies at no extra cost to you.
Having said that, Virgin points are incredibly easy to earn. So, if you find dates that work and there’s availability, using points for a Virgin Voyages sailing can absolutely make sense.
