This week, Wyndham announced its newest airline partnership with Singapore Airlines. Wyndham Rewards members can now earn KrisFlyer miles on Wyndham stays and transfer Rewards points to KrisFlyer miles.

Here are the details of this partnership, and whether you should consider transferring your points or earning KrisFlyer miles instead of Rewards points.

Wyndham and Singapore Airlines Partnership

Wyndham Rewards has nearly a dozen transfer partners to transfer Rewards points into miles or other loyalty points. Notable among these are British Airways, Air Canada, and Avianca.

On September 10, Wyndham and Singapore Airlines launched a new partnership allowing members to transfer Wyndham Rewards points to KrisFlyer miles. Furthermore, members can now choose to earn KrisFlyer miles instead of Rewards points. But should they?

Transferring Wyndham Rewards points to Singapore KrisFlyer miles

Like with its other airline transfer partners, Wyndham Rewards points transfer to Singapore KrisFlyer miles at a rate of 6,000 points to 1,200 miles. Once transferred, members can use KrisFlyer miles for flights, cabin upgrades, and more.

In recent redemptions, AwardWallet user average 1.33¢ per Wyndham Rewards point. Conversely, Singapore KrisFlyer miles provide around 2.43¢ in value each. As such, 6,000 Rewards points are worth about $80, while 1,200 KrisFlyer miles are worth about $29.

Unless you have a surplus of Wyndham Rewards points and need a top-up of KrisFlyer miles for a flight, you're better off redeeming your Wyndham points for stays. Just know that this transfer partnership is available if needed.

Earning KrisFlyer miles on Wyndham stays

Another benefit from the Wyndham and Singapore Airlines partnership is the ability to earn KrisFlyer miles on Wyndham stays. Normally, Wyndham Rewards members earn 10 Rewards points per dollar spent on stays. A minimum of 1,000 points is earned per stay.

Now, members can choose to earn KrisFlyer miles on stays. However, members will only earn 1 KrisFlyer mile per dollar spent on stays, with a minimum of 1,000 miles per stay.

Considering Wyndham Rewards points are valued at 1.33¢ each, and KrisFlyer miles are valued at 2.43¢ each, you're better off earning 10X Wyndham Rewards points on stays. The exception is a cheap stay, where you would only earn 1,000 points. In that case, choose to earn 1,000 KrisFlyer miles instead for better rewards.

Our Take

Wyndham continues to expand its list of transfer partners. The new partnership with Singapore Airlines gives members the option to transfer Rewards points into KrisFlyer miles and earn miles on stays. However, members should always consider how they value Wyndham Rewards points before transferring them into another program or choosing to earn other rewards on stays.

What do you think of the Wyndham and Singapore Airlines partnership? Would you choose to earn KrisFlyer miles instead of Rewards points?
