With the recent launch of Alaska Airlines' new loyalty program, Atmos Rewards, came news of a few new and exciting premium co-branded credit card. Apart from a hefty welcome bonus, annual lounge passes, fee waivers, trusted traveler program credits, and many other perks, there's a very rewarding new one: the Atmos Global Companion Award.

What is the Atmos Global Companion Award?
The new Atmos Rewards Global Companion Awards are a perk of the latest credit card offering from Alaska. One of the many benefits of the card is this new ability to earn companion certificates, which are different than the $99 Companion Fare you get with Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® card and Atmos™ Rewards Visa Business Card. These Global Companion Awards come exclusively with the new Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Card. There are two different awards you can unlock:
25,000-point Global Companion Award: Currently, Alaska is offering a welcome bonus offer on the Atmos Summit card where you can earn the 25K Global Companion Award after spending $6,000 within the first three months after opening the card. After that, you'll earn this award again each year when you renew your card. It takes 25,000 points off a companion's award ticket.
100,000-point Global Companion Award: Earned after spending $60,000 or more on the card in a single year. It covers a companion's award ticket up to 100,000 points, which is especially valuable for premium cabin redemptions.
Both these awards allow you to redeem your Atmos Rewards points for any award flights you can book on AlaskaAir.com, including flights on Alaska, Hawaiian Airlines, or Oneworld global partners for two people on the same itinerary. The Global Companion Award will cover the cost of the companion ticket for up to its point value (either 25,000 or 100,000 points).
Global Companion Award Details
The new certificates come with a few caveats to keep in mind, all covered in Alaska's FAQs.
- These awards cannot be stacked together for extra value.
- The cardholder does not need to be flying the itinerary booked, so you can use it for friends and family.
- If the companion ticket costs more than the certificate's value, you're on the hook for the remainder of the points. Conversely, if the price of the companion ticket is lower than the certificate's value, you'll forfeit the remainder.
- The Global Companion Award is valid for up to a year after being issued. Note that they can be used for travel at a later date as long as the tickets are purchased before the certificate expires.
- These certificates come with limited flexibility. You can cancel and rebook your flights before travel takes place as long as the certificate hasn't expired yet. If you've already flown part of your itinerary, no changes or cancellations are possible. Any changes to your bookings made after the certificate's expiration date will result in the companion discount being forfeited.
- Taxes and fees for these bookings must be paid for using your Atmos Summit card card.
How does the Atmos Global Companion Award Work?
If you're a cardholder of the Atmos Summit card, you'll see the Global Companion Award in your Atmos Rewards account. Just head to Alaska's website and log into your frequent flyer account. Once logged in, display the menu by clicking on your initials.
From there, select “Rewards”. Your Companion Awards — both Global or otherwise — will be listed under “Card Benefits”. If you have already unlocked the 25,000 or 100,000-point Global Companion Awards, they'll be listed there.
Once you have found a redemption you'd like to use this Companion Award on, you'll be able to select it upon checkout. Just make sure you are making an award booking for two passengers on the same reservation.
Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Card Benefits
Apart from the usual perks we've grown accustomed to with previous Alaska Airlines credit card offerings, the Atmos Summit card comes with plenty of innovative ones, including:
- Earn 3 points per $1 spent on all eligible foreign purchases — a rather unique category. Plus, no foreign transaction fees.
- Earn 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.
- An annual 25K Global Companion Award, with the option to unlock a 100K Global Companion Award after spending $60,000 on the card in a cardmember year.
- 8 Alaska Lounge passes every year (two per quarter, for use within the quarter).
- 8 Wi-Fi passes every year (two per quarter, for use within the quarter).
- First checked bag free and preferred boarding for you and up to six guests on the same reservation (if you use your card to pay for the flight).
- Receive an exclusive signature cocktail or elevated bar offering every time you visit an Alaska Lounge location (through 2026).
- TSA PreCheck® or Global Entry trusted traveler program membership credit (up to $120).
- Same-day confirmed change fee waiver (unless you're flying a Saver fare).
- Partner award booking fee waiver — kiss that $12.50 per-segment fee on every partner redemption goodbye.
- Travel delay protection (if your Alaska Airlines flight has a same-day cancellation or delay of two hours or more for any reason, you'll get a $50 e-voucher).
- Unlock points sharing with up to 10 Atmos Rewards members.
- Transfer points to hotel partners.
Bottom Line
The Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Card comes with a not-insignificant annual fee. However, it also packs enough benefits that avid Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flyers should be able to leverage to take the sting out of the high cost of the card. Additionally, cardholders can obtain plenty of value from not just one, but potentially two yearly chances of squeezing more value out of their redemptions. Big spenders will have no issue earning the 100,000-point Global Companion Award. Meanwhile, the 25,000-point award comes with a much lower threshold to unlock.
