Earn 70,000 Flying Blue Miles and 100 XP With the Air France KLM Visa
New applicants for the Air France KLM Visa can earn 70,000 bonus miles and 100 XP after you make $3,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening.
The mileage portion of this limited-time offer can deliver significant value. AwardWallet members have recently redeemed Flying Blue miles for an average of 2.24¢ each. At that rate, 70,000 miles could provide around $1,550 in value before accounting for the card’s annual fee.
Your actual value will depend on how you redeem the miles. Flying Blue uses dynamic award pricing, so some awards provide substantially better value than others. The program’s monthly Promo
The 100 XP could be just as useful as the miles. If you currently have Flying Blue Explorer status, earning 100 XP is enough to reach Silver status without stepping on an airplane.
What Flying Blue Silver status includes
Flying Blue Silver comes with several useful perks when traveling with Air France, KLM, and other SkyTeam airlines:
- Earn 6 miles per euro spent on Air France- and KLM-marketed flights and selected add-ons.
- Receive priority check-in, baggage drop-off, and boarding.
- Select standard seats for free.
- Access some additional seat options starting 24 hours before departure.
- Check one additional bag for free on SkyTeam flights.

Those benefits won’t matter equally to every traveler. But for someone who regularly flies Air France, KLM, Delta, or another SkyTeam airline, the extra bag and airport priority benefits can make Silver status genuinely useful.
Why Get the Air France KLM Visa?
The current offer provides the biggest reason to apply, but the card also offers several ongoing benefits:
- 3X miles on eligible airline purchases. Earn 3X Flying Blue miles per $1 spent on eligible purchases with Air France, KLM, and SkyTeam member airlines.
- 3X miles on eligible dining purchases. This makes the card more rewarding for everyday spending than many co-branded airline cards.
- 3X miles on rent payments through Bilt. Earn 3X miles per $1 spent on up to $50,000 in rent payments per calendar year, then 1.5X. However, Bilt charges a 3% transaction fee when you pay rent with this card, so this benefit won’t make sense for everyone.
- 1.5X miles on other purchases. The card earns 1.5X miles per $1 spent on other eligible purchases.
- 5,000 anniversary miles. Earn 5,000 miles each account anniversary after making at least $50 in purchases during the anniversary year.
- Up to 160 XP each anniversary. Receive 20 XP automatically, earn an additional 80 XP after spending $15,000 during the anniversary year, and earn another 60 XP after spending $25,000.
- No foreign transaction fees. That makes the card practical for purchases outside the U.S.
- A $89 annual fee. That’s lower than the fee on many co-branded airline cards.
The 5,000 anniversary miles can go a long way toward offsetting the annual fee. Based on AwardWallet members’ average redemption rate of 2.24¢ per Flying Blue mile, those miles could be worth around $112 — more than the card’s annual fee. You only need to make $50 in purchases during the anniversary year to receive them.

How Flying Blue XP work
Flying Blue has a somewhat complicated system for earning elite status. Instead of using a traditional calendar year, the program gives members a 12-month qualification period. When you advance to a higher tier, Flying Blue deducts the required XP and starts a new qualification period.
Here’s how many XP you need to move through the program:
- Silver: 100 XP.
- Gold: An additional 180 XP after reaching Silver.
- Platinum: An additional 300 XP after reaching Gold.
Flying Blue Ultimate works differently. It requires 900 Ultimate Experience Points, or UXP, earned through eligible Air France- and KLM-marketed activity. XP earned from this credit card won’t help you meet that requirement.
The card’s anniversary XP can make maintaining or advancing your status much easier. Spending $15,000 during an anniversary year earns 100 total XP, which can be enough to maintain Silver status. Spending $25,000 earns 160 total XP, putting you most of the way from Silver to Gold.
All told, the Air France KLM Visa is valuable not only for earning redeemable miles, but also for helping cardholders earn or maintain Flying Blue status without relying entirely on flights.
Air France KLM Visa Application and Bonus Restrictions
The Air France KLM Visa is issued by Bank of America and is available to residents of the U.S. and its territories. Before applying, keep the following restrictions in mind:
- Bonus eligibility. The offer terms limit applicants to one bonus-miles offer per new Air France KLM credit card account. The new-account XP bonus is limited to once per Flying Blue member within any 24-month period, regardless of how many Air France KLM credit card accounts that member opens.
- New accounts only. The welcome offer applies to customers opening a new account in response to the promotion. Converting an existing Bank of America card won’t qualify.
- Bank of America’s 2/3/4 rule. You generally can open no more than two Bank of America cards in two months, three in 12 months, and four in 24 months.
- Bank of America’s 3/12 (or 7/12) rule. Bank of America may deny applicants who have opened three or more cards with any issuer during the past 12 months. Data points suggest the limit increases to seven cards for applicants with a Bank of America deposit account.
The last two restrictions aren’t published or consistently enforced, but they’re worth considering before applying.

Bottom Line
Before its early 2026 revamp, the Flying Blue credit card available to U.S. residents was only mildly interesting. The updated Air France KLM Visa now offers stronger earning rates, much more XP earning potential, and an anniversary bonus that can help offset its annual fee.
The card still won’t be right for everyone. Flying Blue partners with most major transferable-points programs. So, travelers who don’t care about elite status may prefer earning flexible rewards they can transfer to Flying Blue when they need them.
But this card makes a compelling case for Flying Blue loyalists, travelers pursuing SkyTeam benefits, and anyone who can maximize the current offer. The 70,000 bonus miles can fund a valuable award, while 100 XP is enough to take an Explorer member directly to Silver status. Combined with the card’s ongoing anniversary miles and XP, now is an excellent time to consider applying for the Air France KLM Visa.
