A cash-back card can be the perfect fit for someone looking to earn straightforward rewards on their spending. Cashback cards skip the sometimes-complicated nature of transfer partners or reward programs. Instead, this credit card category offers a tangible, easy-to-understand rebate to cardholders.
Chase offers a handful of cash-back credit cards, each with its own pros and cons. But which one is the best for you? In this post, we'll compare all the options so you can make the best decision for your finances.
Overview of Chase Cash-Back Credit Cards
Some Chase cards earn flexible Ultimate Rewards or points and miles within a specific loyalty program. In contrast, the cards we're covering earn cash back. Two of the Chase cards we’ll review offer elevated returns in select bonus categories, while another provides a flat rate on all purchases. The lineup also includes three business credit cards that earn cash back for business spending.
Keep in mind that if you have an Ultimate Rewards-earning credit card, you may be able to convert your cash-back rewards into Ultimate Rewards points, delivering a higher return on spending.

- Notable perks: Low introductory APR for purchases, six months of complimentary access to DoorDash DashPass, 2% cash back on Lyft Rides.
- Annual fee: $0 annual fee.
Our take: The Chase Freedom Unlimited® offers solid earnings for a no-fee credit card.
Earning an unlimited 1.5% cash back on non-bonus spending is pretty competitive. When you add in dining, drug store, and travel bonus categories, this card really shines.

Plus, if you can take advantage of the sign-up bonus, it delivers a strong return on a relatively low spending requirement.
Keep in mind, travelers will be charged a 3% foreign transaction fee on purchases made abroad. Those fees can really add up on a longer trip.
Chase Freedom Flex℠

- Earn 5% on up to $1,500 on combined purchases in bonus categories each quarter you activate
- Earn 5% on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards
- Earn 3% on dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services
- Earn 3% on drugstore purchases
- Earn 1% on all other purchases
- Sign-up bonus: Earn Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. .
- Earning structure: Earn 5% on rotating bonus categories (up to $1,500 per quarter), 5% on travel purchased through Chase, 3% on dining at restaurants and drugstore purchases and 1% on other eligible purchases.
- Notable perks: Low introductory APR for purchases, six months of complimentary access to DoorDash DashPass, 2% cash back on Lyft Rides.
- Annual fee: $0 annual fee.
Our take: The Chase Freedom Flex℠ offers some interesting benefits compared to its sister card above.
For one, the rotating quarterly categories are beneficial when it aligns with spending you'd already incur in your daily life. This is in addition to the bonus earnings on dining, drug store, and travel, which are structured the same as the Freedom Unlimited card.
However, the Chase Freedom Flex℠ only earns 1% back on non-bonused spending. This can add up if your spending doesn't match one of the bonus categories discussed above.
Finally, this card also charges a 3% foreign transaction fee, so be aware of that if you plan to use it abroad.
Chase Freedom Rise®

- Sign-up bonus: Earn Earn a $25 statement credit after signing up for automatic payments within the first three months of opening your account. With automatic payments, just pick a date and dollar amount to make sure your Credit Card gets paid on time..
- Earning structure: Earn 1.5% cash back on every purchase.
- Notable perks: Good for establishing credit, and upgradable to the or Freedom Flex with good card history.
- Annual fee: $0 annual fee.
Our take: The Chase Freedom Rise® is a card geared toward students and those starting their credit journey. As such, it offers less cash back on spending but provides a path to one of the better-rewarding cash-back cards with a good credit history.
An interesting perk is the $25 bonus for enrolling in autopay. This encourages on-time payments, but cardholders must ensure they have the required funds in their payment accounts.
Overall, the Freedom Rise offers a solid 1.5% cash back on all purchases, which is higher than the typical “beginner” credit card.

Our take: The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card offers solid cash back on categories that matter to a small business, like 5% cash back on up to $25,000 in spending at office supply stores and on internet, cable, and phone services.
There's also no annual fee, which makes this an optimal cash-back credit card for a small business.
Plus, if you do end up applying for an Ultimate Rewards credit card, your cash-back earnings can be converted to Ultimate Rewards points. This can sometimes double the value of your cash back if done strategically.

- Earning structure: 1.5%.
- Notable perks: 5% cash back on Lyft rides, a three-month introductory Instacart+ membership, and primary rental car coverage when renting for business.
- Annual fee: $0 annual fee.
Our take: Similar to the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, this card's main difference is its everyday 1.5% cash-back reward structure. You'll still enjoy a $0 annual fee. That fee can make sense for businesses that regularly make large purchases and can take advantage of the elevated earning rates.
Keep in mind that this card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee, so it's not the best card to use abroad.
Ink Business Premier® Credit Card

- Earn $1,000 bonus cash back after you spend $10,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

- Earning structure: .
- Notable perks: 5% cash back on Lyft rides, cellphone protection, and primary rental car coverage when renting for business.
- Annual fee: $195 annual fee.
Our take: The Ink Business Premier® Credit Card offers a slew of heightened benefits, including 2.5% cash back on purchases of $5,000 or more. You'll also enjoy 5% cash back on Chase Travel bookings and 2% cash back on everything else.
The card does have a $195 annual fee. Depending on your business's purchases, that could make sense if large purchases are required to operate.
Finally, this card does not feature a foreign transaction fee like others on this list, which makes for a solid card to use abroad (or for foreign business purchases).
