When the Chase Sapphire Reserve® was refreshed earlier this year, it added a handful of new travel and lifestyle benefits. These range from a new The Edit prepaid hotel credit to annual Stubhub credits, which you can use throughout the year. Among the more unexpected benefits, however, is a new partnership with Apple.

The Sapphire Reserve now includes memberships to Apple Music and Apple TV+. These are Apple's music and video streaming services, respectively, and are available to use even if you don't have an Apple device. Complimentary memberships to these services run through June 22, 2027.

Using the Sapphire Reserve‘s Apple Music and Apple TV+ benefits are different than using other benefits provided by the card, as they're not statement credits. Instead, you activate them by linking your Chase account to your Apple ID.

Let's take a closer look at the Sapphire Reserve‘s Apple benefits, what they include, and how to set them up. We'll also discuss how this benefit works if you already have an Apple family plan or an Apple One subscription.

What Apple Benefits Are Included With the Sapphire Reserve

The Sapphire Reserve‘s Apple benefits are clear-cut: You'll get complimentary Apple Music and Apple TV+ subscriptions through June 22, 2027, after you link your Apple ID to your Chase account through the Ultimate Rewards portal.

Apple Music is Apple's answer to Spotify, and includes unlimited ad-free streaming to millions of songs. You can access the streaming service through the included Music app on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad, or by downloading the Apple Music app for Android and Windows. A standard single-user subscription costs $10.99 per month in the U.S, though discounts are available for students and Siri-only plans.

Apple TV+ — not to be confused with Apple TV, Apple's set-top streaming box — is the company's relatively new video streaming service. It's an all-original streaming service with in-house hits like Ted Lasso, Severance, and The Morning Show. A single-user subscription costs $12.99 per month or $99.99 per year in the U.S.

The Sapphire Reserve includes full access to both of these streaming services for the Apple ID you link to your Chase account. If you're paying for both of these services outright, these benefits are effectively a $288 annual rebate toward your card's annual fee.

How to Use the Sapphire Reserve‘s Apple Music and Apple TV Benefits

As mentioned, the Sapphire Reserve‘s Apple Music and Apple TV+ benefits work a bit differently than other benefits included with the card. Instead of charging your monthly subscription to you Sapphire Reserve and being reimbursed via a statement credit, you have to link your Chase account to your Apple ID to enable your complimentary memberships.

Doing this is simple. First, navigate to Chase's website and log in to your account. Then, click into your Sapphire Reserve account and click the “More” button underneath your card balance. Click on “Card benefits” from the drop-down menu.

Scroll down the page until you see the “Enjoy membership perks” header. Underneath this, you will see the Apple Music and Apple TV+ benefits. Click on the Apple benefit you'd like to activate.

You'll see a blue “Activate now” button at the center of the page. Click this button to be redirected to Apple's website, where you can link your Chase account to your Apple ID and activate your complimentary Apple Music and Apple TV+ subscriptions.

If you already have an active Apple Music or Apple TV+ subscription, activating one through Chase will automatically replace it, so there's no need to cancel beforehand. However, if you cancel your Chase Apple Music or Apple TV+ subscription — for example, if you close your card — your paid subscription will resume automatically.

What If I Have an Apple One Plan?

Apple offers a premium subscription service called Apple One that lets users bundle multiple services under a single monthly bill. There are three tiers — Individual, Family, and Premier — which include access to various services. At the Family and Premier levels, you can share access with up to five other Apple IDs.

My family has long subscribed to the Premier plan, as we had previously paid for Apple Music and various amounts of iCloud+ storage for years. Given that six of us can access all these features and more for just $37.95 per month (which breaks down to $6.32 per person), it's a no-brainer for us.

However, this presents a problem with the Sapphire Reserve‘s Apple benefits. If you're already part of an Apple One Family or Premier plan, a complimentary membership from your credit card adds no benefit. And in most cases, it's less expensive to keep this plan active if you're sharing benefits with others.

However, if you're an Apple One Individual subscriber and only want access to Apple Music, Apple TV+, and 50GB of additional iCloud+ storage, canceling Apple One can work to your advantage. You can purchase the same 50GB of storage for just $0.99 per month, and then use your Sapphire Reserve Apple Music and Apple TV+ subscriptions to cover the rest. This would save you roughly $18 per month compared to the Apple One Individual plan.

In the future, I'd like to see Chase and Apple find a way to include Apple One subscribers in this benefit. Ideally, this would be by offering a monthly discount on your Apple One plan in lieu of an Apple Music or Apple TV+ subscription. This way, Sapphire Reserve cardmembers can keep their current plan and still benefit from this perk.

Bottom Line

The Sapphire Reserve‘s recent refresh brought a ton of new perks to the card, including complimentary subscriptions to Apple Music and Apple TV+ through June 22, 2027. This can be a great way to lower your monthly streaming service bill and enjoy new music, movies, and TV shows.

But the Apple benefits aren't perfect. Those who are already subscribed to an Apple One plan cannot use these benefits alongside their current plan. If you're an Apple One Individual subscriber, you might consider canceling your plan after enrolling in these benefits.
