Avianca (LifeMiles)

LifeMiles has the creakiest IT of probably any award program. Award inventory that shows as readily available in other programs often isn't bookable with LifeMiles. If it is available, bookings don't always go through due to IT problems (this is a particular issue with SWISS). The program has devalued multiple times with zero notice, including a recent >50% devaluation in some award categories. Change and cancellation fees are very high relative to other programs. Miles also expire faster than other programs. Customer service representatives are polite, but they don't actually work for Avianca, they are not native English speakers, and they have very limited ability to do or fix anything. Should you use this program? Not if you have other reasonable options. Even though the award pricing is lower than Air Canada or United, transfer bonuses to this program are also lower than to other airlines. If you time your bookings strategically, this is a program that you can (and should) easily avoid.

Nice enough programme but LifeMiles customer support is second only to completely hopeless. They simply cannot answer a question straight. After selling thousands of miles in 2x1 promotions in September then now seem to have upped the redemptions for flights so now LANPASS works out to be better value. Wouldn't consider using LifeMiles as my main FF programme mainly because chasing up errors and missing miles would take up too many hours of my life

Excellent service! I've travel in Taca for many years and loved the service provided by the staff. I have always been greeted by the staff with a candid smile and willingness to help. Taca reward program is very exact and provides you with great offers. I highly recommend this airline.
