Should You Transfer Chase Points to Southwest — Even With a Transfer Bonus?
Now for the most obvious question: should you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Southwest Rapid Rewards now that there’s a transfer bonus in the mix? The answer is the same as when there’s no bonus. It depends.
It usually makes sense to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Southwest when you’re just short the points needed for a redemption. This way, you’re transferring fewer points than you would have otherwise while keeping more of your Chase points for future use. And transferring when there's a bonus is more rewarding than transferring when there's no bonus.

Another good reason to transfer is if you can get a better deal booking through Southwest than through Chase Travel℠.
Remember, Southwest uses a revenue-based but dynamically priced system, so the value of your points will vary. In some cases, you might get a better deal by booking your Southwest flight directly through the Chase Travel portal (which counts as a paid flight, so you still earn Rapid Rewards points and elite status credits) instead of transferring points to Southwest — even with the 25% bonus.
Our best advice is to price out the flight you want both in Chase Travel and on Southwest’s website to see which offers the better deal. That way, you can be sure you’re getting the most value for your points.
Other Ways to Earn Southwest Rapid Rewards Points
If you’re looking to earn more Rapid Rewards points but don’t think transferring a bunch of your hard-earned Chase Ultimate Rewards points is the best way to go about it, you’re not out of luck.
One of the easiest ways to earn a large number of Rapid Rewards points at once is by taking advantage of one of these Chase-issued Southwest credit card offers.

- 2X points per $1 spent on Southwest® purchases
- 2 points for every $1 you spend at gas stations and grocery stores on the first $5,000 in combined purchases per anniversary year
- 1X point per $1 spent on all other purchases

- 4X points per $1 spent on all Southwest® purchases
- 2X points per $1 spent at gas stations and restaurants
- 1X point per $1 spent on all other purchases

- 4X points per $1 spent on Southwest® purchases
- 2X points per $1 spent at gas stations and restaurants
- 2X points per $1 on hotel accommodations booked directly with the hotel
- 2X points per $1 spent on rideshare
- 1X point per $1 spent on all other purchases
You could also buy Southwest Rapid Rewards points when they’re on sale, which can be a good option if you’re just a few points short of a redemption. And if you hold other points or miles currencies, you can transfer some of them to Southwest Rapid Rewards — but just note that the transfer ratios aren’t always 1:1.

Bottom Line
It’s not every day that we see a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer bonus to Southwest Rapid Rewards, so this 25% bonus is a pretty unique. But just because it’s rare doesn’t necessarily mean you should jump on it.
Be sure to price out any travel you plan to book and crunch the numbers. This transfer bonus could work in your favor, but it’s also possible there are cheaper ways to book your Southwest flight with Chase points that doesn't involve transferring them.
Just keep in mind that this transfer bonus won’t be around for very long. It’s only available through 11:59 pm ET on November 6, 2025.
