It's no secret that Point.me is one of our favorite award search tools. This is especially true considering the multitude of updates Point.me has released this year alone — a total revamp of the Explore tool, faster search times, and a ton of new functionality.

However, the latest update might just be the most exciting. You can now search for and book hotels through Point.me. Here's everything you need to know about the new hotel tool, currently in beta and available to paid Point.me members.

To use the Point.me hotels tool, you'll need a paid membership. Subscriptions typically start at $19.99 per month or $129 per year for a Standard plan, while the Premium Plan costs $260 per year. Use Point.me promo code “AWARDWALLET4” to save 25% on annual plans (pay just $95.99 for Standard or $193.47 for Premium).

Point.me Launches Hotel Searches

Point.me has officially entered the hotel game. Although still in beta, paid members get exclusive early access to search for hotels worldwide.

Start by entering your destination, dates, and number of guests. Unlike when searching for flights, you can't search by region, like the Caribbean or Central America. However, you can search by state, so you don't always need to know exactly which city you want to go to.

Once you click “Search,” you'll see a map with hotel listings on the side. You can sort by:

  • Recommended
  • Cash: Low to High
  • Cash: High to Low
  • Points: Low to High
  • Points: High to Low
  • Top Rated

You can filter by three credit card programs: American Express, Bilt, and Chase, and five loyalty programs: Marriott Bonvoy®, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt, Hilton Honors, and Wyndham Rewards. You can also filter by total cost, average user rating, and number of stars.

Scroll through the map to see different options, and each hotel listing shows up to three prices: the Point.me price (an exclusive member cash rate), the book direct price, and the points price. That's right — you can book your hotel stay directly through Point.me, and it may actually be more affordable than booking through the hotel.

Right now, booking the Point.me price generally won't earn hotel points, elite night credits, or on-property perks, but we hope those will roll out in the future. If you have top-tier status, you might prefer to book directly on the hotel's website. However, if you don't have status, the savings from booking through Point.me could outweigh any small perks of booking direct. Either way, you can compare prices at a glance, making it easy to choose the best option for any given stay.

We can also confirm that Point.me hotel bookings code as lodging, so you can use any card that earns bonus points on travel to make your reservation. Some of our favorite options include the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey® Card (Rates & Fees) and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card.

When a third-party tool displays cash prices, it typically only displays non-member rates, which can be substantially more than member rates. In our searches, Point.me doesn't do this. The book direct price is the same price you'll see when you log in to your Marriott or Hyatt account and search for a hotel.

Similarly, third-party tools often don't include benefits like Marriott's fifth night free, available to all members. Again, Point.me solves this problem. When searching for a six-night stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Nassau Downtown, the points price factored in Marriott's fifth night free and matched what I saw on Marriott's website.

However, Point.me pricing won't include perks unlocked through credit cards or elite status — at least not yet. So if you get a fourth night free with IHG thanks to your IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, you'll have to do a little math to find your actual points price.

When you click on a listing, you'll be taken to a page with more information about the hotel. You can then select your room, decide whether the points price is a good deal or if you're better off paying cash, and even learn how to earn the points you need to book the hotel.

Once you select your preferred booking option, click “Book.” If you opt for the Point.me price, you'll be taken to a checkout page to enter your card information. If you prefer to book the direct or points prices, you'll be redirected to the hotel's website.

Bottom Line

Point.me's hotel search tool is only in beta, and it already works beautifully. We're excited to see what else Point.me has in store for hotel searches, but for now, you can search for award flights and award nights on one website.

Point.me continues to revolutionize the industry. If you aren't already a member, you can subscribe to Point.me using promo code AWARDWALLET4  to save 25% on annual plans (pay just $95.99 for Standard or $193.47 for Premium).
