Las Vegas has been in the news a lot lately, with affordability questions and low visitation. With increased competition from regional casinos, cruise lines, and online sports betting, there are definite headwinds for the gaming capital of the world.
Despite that, gambling status in casino programs remains a lucrative opportunity for savvy points and miles travelers. Not only for delivering benefits in Las Vegas, the programs offer opportunities for free cruises and more through partners.
MGM Resorts — one of the largest operators of casinos in Las Vegas — has announced a bonus Tier Status Accelerator running from December 14-28, 2025. If you're looking to earn Pearl, Gold, or Platinum status in MGM's program in 2026, this promotion is worth paying attention to. Here are all the details.

Earning MGM Rewards Elite Status
If you're unfamiliar with the MGM Rewards program, here are the MGM Rewards tier levels and respective Tier Credits needed to earn them in a calendar year.
| Tier | Tier Credits Needed |
|---|---|
| Sapphire | Up to 19,999 |
| Pearl | 20,000 |
| Gold | 75,000 |
| Platinum | 200,000 |
| Noir | Invite Only |
Tier credits are earned in a number of different ways, not just gambling. You'll earn tier credits through most on-property spend at MGM properties, including restaurants, spas, and activities on site. With this promotion, all tier credits earned count towards the milestones required for the Status Accelerator promotion.
Pearl status offers nice perks like free parking at MGM properties, while Gold status offers waived resort fees. Platinum status offers incredible perks like yearly airline credits to fly you to Las Vegas, dining credits, and more.
Bonus MGM Daily Tier Status Accelerator in December 2025
MGM offers an ongoing Daily Tier Status Accelerator that awards bonus Tier Credits at four distinct milestones each day. The current promotion awards additional bonus tier credits each day for hitting those milestones, but only between December 14 and 28, 2025.
Here are the milestones you'll need to hit, and bonus tier credits awarded.
| Milestone | Tier Credits Earned | Bonus During This Promotion | Total Tier Credits Earned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Milestone #1 | 5,000 | 5,000 | 10,000 |
| Milestone #2 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 20,000 |
| Milestone #3 | 20,000 | 25,000 | 45,000 |
| Milestone #4 | 40,000 | 60,000 | 100,000 |
Here are some other details to be aware of:
- You must show your physical or digital MGM Rewards card with each eligible on-property purchase, use your card when gaming, or charge your purchases to your hotel folio.
- Hotel folio charges at the Cosmopolitan are excluded from this promotion, but non-folio activity is eligible.
- Each day begins at 12:00 am Pacific Time and ends at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
- Folio charges are posted around 2 am Pacific Time and are deemed eligible for the day they are posted.
- Tier credits earned outside of Las Vegas properties are not eligible for this promotion.
- Tier credits earned through credit card spend are ineligible.
Keep in mind, if you're earning Tier Credits primarily from gaming, the amount of Tier Credits earned depends on the game you're wagering in and the time spent. Essentially, they're rewarded on the “theoretical loss” on the amount gambled, which we won't get into in this post. Gamble responsibly!
Other eligible spend is typically awarded at 4 Tier Credits per $1 spent. So, if you're having a particularly glamorous stay in Las Vegas, this promotion might be of great interest to you.

How to leverage this promotion into MGM status
Since members can only earn one milestone each day under the promotion rules, you'll likely need to participate over multiple days to earn status in MGM's program.
If starting from scratch, you can earn Pearl status — which is earned after 20,000 Tier Credits earned — in just two days of earning 5,000 Tier Credits each. Or you can earn Pearl in just one day by earning 10,000 Tier Credits. After the 10,000-credit bonus, you'd earn Pearl status.
Earning MGM Gold is a tougher challenge, but you can do so in two days by earning 20,000 Tier Credits each day.
Unfortunately, those seeking Platinum status don't receive any additional tier credits for hitting milestone #4. You'll be able to earn Platinum after two days of hitting that threshold.
Other ways of earning MGM status
MGM offers frequent status matches for gamblers from other programs.
Keep in mind, you can earn automatic Pearl status from the MGM Rewards™ World Elite Mastercard®. So, if you're aiming for Pearl status, it may not be necessary to participate in this promotion.
For members seeking Gold status and above, you may be more interested in participating. Still, the MGM World Elite Card offers Gold status after spending $75,000 on the card in a calendar year.
If you do happen to earn MGM Rewards status, you can leverage your respective status in the Marriott Bonvoy® program with their still-new partnership.
Bottom Line
For those who already have trips to Las Vegas planned, where there will be a lot of gambling or on-property spending occurring, this promotion is worth paying attention to. For others looking to maximize the MGM Rewards program, it might be more useful to utilize the MGM Rewards World Elite Mastercard for your status needs. As always, gamble responsibly.
