Our Take

The news is not that surprising. It's remarkable that the partnership lasted so long. It was unusual for a SkyTeam airline (Aeromexico) and a Star Alliance member (Copa) to have such a deep partnership. While deep partnerships among members of the same alliance are common, when it comes to members of other alliances, these partnerships are frowned upon by other members. That said, with so many different options available for both airline members, the dissolution of the partnership should have a minimal effect on most travelers.
