Though a bit late in unveiling branded airport lounges compared to other credit card issuers, Chase is now steadily announcing and opening its Sapphire Lounge by The Club locations in several airports. The first Chase Sapphire Lounge location opened in late 2022 in Hong Kong, and the first U.S. location in Boston opened on May 16, 2023.

Now, the second Chase Sapphire Lounge in the U.S. has opened its doors as of Tuesday, January 16, 2024, located in New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

AwardWallet got an early look at the lounge to share all of the details with you. So, what is the new Chase Sapphire Lounge at New York’s LaGuardia Airport like? Let's take a look.

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia (LGA) is open daily from 4:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. ET.

Travelers with the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and J.P. Morgan Reserve card and authorized users with a Priority Pass membership receive unlimited lounge access and can bring up to two guests for free. Chase Sapphire Lounge LaGuardia Location

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia is located after security in Terminal B. After clearing security and taking the escalator up, you’ll follow the signs to gates 40 to 59. The Sapphire Lounge is next to the American Express Centurion Lounge. To reach the Sapphire Lounge’s check-in desk, you’ll need to walk down the hallway and take the elevator down to level one.

The Sapphire Lounge entrance is quite discreet, especially compared to the grand entrance of the Amex Centurion Lounge. (There was tape over the Sapphire Lounge nameplate during our early preview since the lounge was not yet open to the public.)

If you’re flying out on one of Terminal B's airlines, including Air Canada, American, JetBlue, Southwest, and United, you can visit the lounge and then head to your gate without needing to re-clear security.

However, if you're flying on a different airline, LaGuardia’s terminals are not conveniently connected, so you’d need to give yourself plenty of time to take the complimentary airport shuttle bus between terminals and then re-clear security in your departure terminal. It’s likely not worth the trek unless you have a significant amount of time to spare.

Chase Sapphire Lounge LaGuardia Layout

At more than 21,800 square feet, the Sapphire Lounge at LGA is Chase’s largest to date. In fact, it measures more than twice the size of the Amex Centurion Lounge next door.

When you step off the elevator, you’ll be greeted by employees at the check-in desk who will scan your Priority Pass card for entry.

Immediately behind the reception desk, the lounge opens to several expansive seating options. The lounge is brightly decorated and well-lit. Unfortunately, though, the lounge doesn't have any windows. This means there’s no natural light coming in or any tarmac views from the lounge.

There are round tables with chairs, benches against the wall with a round table and a chair across, conversation areas with comfortable chairs, and plush sofas with throw pillows.

Note that all seating areas in the lounge include plugs to charge your electronics.

Hand-selected artwork is on display throughout the lounge from the J.P. Morgan Chase private art collection.

The lounge’s centerpiece is a large circular cocktail bar.

Self-serve food options are located along the back walls.

A productivity work area is tucked away from the main dining area, with a large electric fireplace, more conversation areas, plus a large conference table.

The productivity area also has three work booths.

Several amenity areas are also located on level one — including wellness rooms with facial treatment areas, a retro-inspired game room, a kids’ playroom, and a nursing room. We'll talk more about these further down in the amenities section.

The Perch at Chase Sapphire Lounge LGA

There is a large staircase, which you can use to access the lounge’s upstairs area, known as The Perch.

This area has more seating and tables and will likely be quieter than the main lounge area downstairs.

Upstairs is also where the private bookable rooms, known as the Reserve Suites, are located. We’ll also talk more about these further down.

Food and Beverage at the Chase Sapphire Lounge LaGuardia

The food and beverage offerings at the Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia Airport go a big step above the standard fare available at many other lounges.

There is a self-serve area that includes a selection of hot food, cold food, and desserts.

One unique aspect of the lounge is the ability to order meals right from your table, setting it apart from the Capital One Lounges and Amex Centurion Lounges, which only have self-serve options prepared in advance. The made-to-order offering is great for those who may want to make modifications to their meal — such as requesting the seared salmon to be cooked well-done or subbing in a vegetarian patty on the Sapphire burger.

Since I visited prior to opening day, I wasn't able to experience the made-to-order service. However, the process seems very simple. Every table has a QR code that you can scan and use to place your order. Your meal will be delivered right to your table.

Several of the made-to-order and ready-to-eat dishes are from Joseph Leonard, an American bistro in the West Village of New York City.

Drinks at the Chase Sapphire Lounge LGA

The alcohol experience is also distinctive with locally inspired cocktails from Apotheke (a New York City cocktail bar), and a wine list curated by Parcelle (a New York City wine bar and online wine retailer).

The lounge’s signature drink is the Sapphire, which I sampled and enjoyed during the opening preview.

Local beers and premium spirits from local brands are available, including TALEA Beer Co., Other Half Brewing, Crop Organic Artisanal Vodka, Brooklyn Gin, and Bootlegger 21 Bourbon Whiskey.

While there isn’t a separate mocktail menu, those looking for something non-alcoholic can order any of the specialty cocktails on the menu sans alcohol. Made-to-order barista beverages include fresh roasts from Joe Coffee.

You’ll also find self-serve soda, juice, coffee, and water at several stations in the lounge.

Chase Sapphire Lounge LaGuardia Amenities

You'll find plenty of notable amenities in the Chase Sapphire Lounge LaGuardia, with the highlight being “The Reserve Suites by Chase” — a first for both Chase and LaGuardia Airport.

Reserve Suites

The Reserve Suites are private, bookable rooms for travelers with either the Sapphire Reserve or J.P. Morgan Reserve card. Unfortunately, they are not complimentary (though all other lounge amenities are). Daily hours for the Reserve Suites are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time. Suite guests can access the lounge through an exclusive entrance and elevator.

There is one small suite for up to four people, available for $2,200, and two large suites for up to eight people each, available for $3,000 each. Cardmembers must book their suite at least 72 hours in advance of their flight and may book the suite up to a year in advance. You can always find up-to-date pricing and book through the Chase mobile app.

The suites have soft velvet furniture and a television with a Playstation 5 system loaded with video games.

You’ll be greeted with caviar service on arrival to your suite.

The suites also have a special menu from Jeffrey's Grocery and a reserve wine list from Parcelle.

Each suite has a personal bathroom with a shower featuring luxurious amenities, such as a Dyson hairdryer and Oribe products. Unfortunately, these are the lounge’s only showers. There are no complimentary showers available in the main lounge.

Game room

The retro-inspired game room is definitely a fun area to pass some time before your flight.

The game room is equipped with a jukebox, pinball machine, shuffleboard table, and a photobooth that's complimentary.

Wellness rooms

The Chase Sapphire Lounge LaGuardia has dedicated wellness rooms with complimentary 30-minute treatments from Face Haus, a women-owned, open-concept facial bar.

You can choose from a variety of non-invasive treatment options from an on-site esthetician, as well as complimentary Fly By Face Haus Skincare Travel Kits. The facial treatments are by reservation only and can be booked either by QR code from your table or at the reception desk in the lounge.

There are also two private meditation rest pods, which can be booked for 30-minute increments.

Kids’ playroom

There is a kids’ playroom area conveniently located next to the game room (though the game room is for both the young and young at heart). The playroom has bench seating with power outlets underneath, so parents can keep their phones charged while watching the kids play.

Nursing room and baby changing room

For parents, there is a nursing room with a comfortable chair, bottle warmer, diapers, wipes, sink, and diaper pail.

Should you only need to change your baby’s diaper, there is a separate baby changing room with the same inclusions as the nursing room, minus the comfortable chair to sit down.

Chase Sapphire Lounge LaGuardia Service

As the lounge had not officially opened to the public yet during our preview, it's difficult to judge the service. There were plenty of staff members on hand during our visit, expeditiously clearing dishes from tables as patrons finished eating. And the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about drink offerings.

Lounge guests who book one of the private suites will be assigned a dedicated staff member to attend to all of their requests, from ordering food or beverages to helping with operating the electronic panel for the television or lighting.

Bottom Line

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia Airport is an exciting addition to the card issuer's lineup. During the preview, representatives from Chase shared with us that the lounge’s design is supposed to evoke the feeling of being in the lobby of a luxury hotel. And it definitely does that.

With the game room, wellness rooms with facial treatments, and delicious food and craft cocktail offerings, the lounge makes it worth getting to the airport early or planning a long layover to visit. And the Reserve Suites are perfect if you’re looking for a more exclusive experience.

And we have more good airport lounge news to share: The next Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club opens on January 23, 2024. This lounge is a joint offering with Etihad Airways at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in Terminal 4 post-security in the Mezzanine. Officially titled Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways, it's located on Level 4 above Gate A2, giving eligible cardholders a second Chase lounge option in the New York City area. As a joint location, the lounge also will be accessible under Etihad's access policy.
