Few things are better than breezing through airport security. And speaking of saving time, you can now jointly enroll for TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Plus.
Even better, simultaneously registering for both programs is an easy way to save a good chunk of change on an otherwise steep sticker price. Here's what you need to know about bundling TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Plus enrollments.
You Can Now Sign Up for CLEAR Plus and TSA PreCheck Together
Having TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Plus in your back pocket will help you get through airport security faster. On top of that, it will also save you money, provided you don't already have a credit card that offers a fee waiver for one or both programs.
Jointly applying comes with a price tag of $199.95. That's the sum of $77.95 for five years of TSA PreCheck and the $122 introductory pricing for your first year of CLEAR Plus. After that first year expires, your CLEAR subscription automatically renews at the standard price of $199.
The joint offer is restricted to new CLEAR Plus members who apply simultaneously through CLEAR (enroll here). That means visiting the offer page, clicking “Apply,” and filling in your personal details. At this point, you'll pay the $122 first-year subscription fee for CLEAR Plus.
And if you have a qualifying American Express card, paying singularly for CLEAR Plus should trigger your annual fee credit. As a refresher, the following cards offer an annual $199 statement credit for CLEAR membership:
- American Express® Green Card
- The Platinum Card® from American Express
- The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
- Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card

To complete your enrollment, you'll have to visit an airport serviced by CLEAR — no appointment required. One of CLEAR's ambassadors will help you complete the joint enrollment for both programs and collect the $77.95 for the TSA PreCheck portion of your application fee.
Assuming TSA approves your application, you'll receive your Known Traveler Number within 60 days. However, you don't need to wait for your KTN to use CLEAR. You can visit the CLEAR kiosks once you've subscribed and completed your enrollment.

Renewing TSA PreCheck Through CLEAR
For savvy travelers who already have TSA PreCheck but need to renew, there's another cost-saving option you can take advantage of by re-upping through CLEAR.
The bundled renewal option costs $190.95, which covers a $68.95 renewal fee plus the $122 first-year promo pricing for CLEAR Plus. And like the previous offer, you're only eligible for the introductory pricing if you haven't previously had CLEAR Plus. Each year after that, CLEAR will bill you $199 for the subscription.
You'll also need to enroll through CLEAR, and you're required to apply for both programs using the same email address.
Or, if you don't want CLEAR, you can skip the bundle and renew PreCheck for $68.95 to save a little bit of money.
Is It a Good Idea to Sign Up or Renew Jointly?
There's no two ways about it. There are dozens of ways you can get trusted traveler programs like TSA PreCheck, CLEAR Plus, and even Global Entry for free. All it takes is holding the right credit card or having elite status with an airline. And if you can get one or both programs for free, there's no reason to jointly enroll.
To be honest, you'll only save money if you're looking to either join both programs for the first time or renew your TSA PreCheck credentials and add CLEAR Plus to your repertoire. Unless you fall into either category, you're likely better off avoiding any bundled offer altogether.
The savings for first-timers and renewals come courtesy of the first-year CLEAR Plus subscription discount. And if you don't have a way to offset the cost of CLEAR or can't justify paying $122 out of pocket for expedited security, then bundling doesn't make much sense.
Final Thoughts
There's a new offer bundling home and auto TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Plus. For those chasing expedited security, enrolling simultaneously can unlock substantial savings, courtesy of a big discount on the first-year price of a CLEAR Plus subscription.
But if you don't need CLEAR or can leverage a credit card perk or airline status to enroll in a trusted traveler program for free, there's not much benefit to bundling.
