We've asked before if you should care about I Prefer Hotel Rewards — the loyalty program of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts hospitality group. In short: Although the program is somewhat niche, it's worth knowing about if you like upscale properties. Now, with a new elite status offer that anyone can use, there's an extra incentive to give the program a look.

Here's how to enjoy I Prefer Titanium status for a year — for free.

Sign up Now to Get Preferred Hotels Titanium Status

Originally, we thought this offer was only for those with an Aeroplan® Credit Card or Air Canada elite status. However, it seems anyone can get a year of I Prefer Titanium status for free. All you have to do is use promo code “AIRCANIPT” when signing up for I Prefer.

Alternatively, if you already belong to the I Prefer program, you can try to activate the offer in one of two ways. Call Aeroplan at 800-361-5373, or visit the I Prefer contact page and fill out a form to register your interest. If you take the form route, click “General Program Questions,” mention the Aeroplan promo, and share your Aeroplan member number.

The offer isn't targeted, nor is it limited to Canadian residents. Simply, it appears that anyone is eligible for the free year of I Prefer Titanium status. And you'll get 500 I Prefer points for enrolling.

There's no specified end date for the promotion. But, there's also a chance this is a glitch allowing anyone (not just Air Canada elite status members and Aeroplan Card holders) to get Titanium status, so you should move double time to take advantage of the offer.

What I Prefer Titanium Status Gets You

The I Prefer program has three elite status tiers: Silver, Gold, and Titanium — meaning Titanium is the highest tier. You typically need to earn 50,000 points in a calendar year to get Titanium elite status — or you can simply take advantage of this offer.

As a Titanium member, you can enjoy the following benefits:

  • Earn 50% bonus points.
  • Early check-in and late checkout — availability permitting.
  • Welcome amenity.
  • Food and beverage voucher.
  • Digital anniversary gift.
  • Space-available room upgrades.

And this comes alongside run-of-the-mill benefits you get as an I Prefer member, like:

  • Complimentary Wi-Fi.
  • Exclusive member rates.
  • Access to partner offers.
  • A copy of the digital I Prefer magazine.

The I Prefer portfolio contains more than 650 independent hotels and resorts in over 85 countries. Suffice it to say, if you look for a Preferred Hotel & Resorts property, you'll likely find one. And the benefits you'll enjoy as a Titanium elite will make your stay more rewarding.

From time to time, I Prefer Hotels offer promotions to earn bonus points on stays.

Final Thoughts

If you're interested in trying out I Prefer, this offer is certainly worth taking advantage of. Just make sure to use promo code AIRCANIPT when you enroll to get a free year of I Prefer Titanium status. There's no telling how long the offer will be around, so act fast if it piques your interest.
