Update: The changes mentioned below have taken effect.

The cost of CLEAR+ increased by another $10 on July 1, 2026. Yep, just like it did last July.

If you've been eyeing a membership, you've missed the window to enroll before the annual price increase to $219. If you're already a member, you should have received an email notifying you of the new price, or you may see a pop-up on CLEAR's website the next time you pay a visit.

Fortunately, some credit cards that offer statement credits for CLEAR+ have already adjusted their benefits to account for the higher price. For example, Amex has already updated its marketing pages and cardholder disclosures to reflect the new $219 CLEAR statement credits.

Here's a closer look at the changes, plus a quick overview of the ways you can save on the cost of a CLEAR+ membership.

CLEAR Raises the Cost of Plus Membership by $10 (Again)

The news here is pretty straightforward: A CLEAR+ membership is now even pricier. It's the fourth time in the past four years that CLEAR has increased its prices. An individual CLEAR+ membership used to cost $209, but that's increased to $219, effective July 1, 2026.

At this point, it's unclear if CLEAR will also increase the price of CLEAR Family. Currently, CLEAR charges an additional $125 per adult family member added to your account. However, children 17 and under can still join you in the security lane free of charge.

Thankfully, several ways still exist to avoid these now-higher rates entirely or, at the very least, reduce their impact on your wallet.

Also at the time of writing, airlines offering discounts, bonus miles, or complimentary CLEAR memberships have yet to price in CLEAR's new rates. The benefits or discounts may increase at some point, so it might be worth taking advantage of current rates — or holding off on these promotions to wait and see if better promotions are offered.

CLEAR Plus Price History

If a CLEAR+ price hike sounds familiar, that's because CLEAR has increased the price of its service by $10 several times over the past few years:

  • 2010: Launched with an annual fee of $179.
  • May 2022: CLEAR increased pricing from $179 to $189.
  • August 2024: CLEAR increased pricing from $189 to $199.
  • July 2025: CLEAR increased pricing from $199 to $209.
  • July 2026: CLEAR increased pricing from $209 to $219.

The price of CLEAR+ remained $179 for over a decade but has now seen four increases in just four years. Hopefully we won't have to report on another hike in 2027.

Final Thoughts

It's never fun to write about prices going up. That said, with several methods of getting a CLEAR+ membership for free or at a significantly reduced rate, this news shouldn't hit too hard. If you're after a CLEAR membership, check for cardholder benefits and/or airline discounts before you enroll; you should never have to pay full price for an individual membership.
