If you have an Avios balance with other major airlines that share the currency, remember that you can also transfer your Avios between programs at no cost. Specifically, you can transfer Avios from the following programs to BA:

  • Aer Lingus
  • Iberia
  • Qatar Airways
  • Finnair

Being an Oneworld member, you also have the option to use a host of other points and miles to book a British Airways award. You can book BA awards using any of the Oneworld Alliance’s 15 members, including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Japan Airlines.

One thing to remember is that British Airways levies monstrously heavy taxes and fees on its awards, especially departing from the UK. Booking a BA business or first-class award, you can easily expect to pay $1,000 in taxes and fees each way.

Our Take

Over the last few years, British Airways has invested heavily in its premium cabins — including rolling out new Club World Suites across most of its fleet. British Airways seems to be building back its reputation after years (arguably decades) of lack of investment.

We're excited to see the latest development from British Airways: A new A380 first-class seat. We can’t wait to see this product take to the skies!
