It’s not often we get to report a credit card benefit change without also caveating an increase to the annual fee. But today, we’ve got good news for those with the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express. Starting August 1, 2025, your Disney Streaming Credit is becoming more valuable — and it’s also getting easier to use.
Here’s what current Card Members and prospective applicants should know.
Amex Increases the Blue Cash Preferred Disney Streaming Credit
The Blue Cash Preferred just became an even better card to use for U.S. streaming subscriptions. First, Card Members can now earn up to $10 back each month in statement credits after purchasing a subscription or bundle through DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or Plus.espn.com.
This is an increase from up to $84 per year ($7 per month) to $120 per year ($10 per month). And there’s no catch here. The Blue Cash Preferred’s ongoing annual fee of $95 (Rates & Fees) isn't increasing to compensate for the added value.
If you already have the card or apply today, you can start using the enhanced credit on August 1, 2025. Enrolled Card Members will begin receiving the higher credit for eligible transactions made on or after that date.
- Earn a $250 statement credit after you spend $3,000 in eligible purchases on your new Card within the first 6 months.
- $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95.
- Buy Now, Pay Later: Enjoy $0 intro plan fees when you use Plan It® to split up large purchases into monthly installments with a fixed fee. Pay $0 intro plan fees on plans created during the first 12 months from the date of account opening. Plans created after that will have a monthly plan fee up to 1.33% of each eligible purchase amount moved into a plan based on the plan duration, the APR that would otherwise apply to the purchase, and other factors.
- Low Intro APR: 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 12 months from the date of account opening. After that, your APR will be a variable APR of 20.24% - 29.24%.
- 6% Cash Back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1%).
- 6% Cash Back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions.
- 3% Cash Back at U.S. gas stations and on transit (including taxis/rideshare, parking, tolls, trains, buses and more).
- 1% Cash Back on other purchases.
- Cash Back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit or at Amazon.com checkout.
- $84 Disney Bundle Credit: With your enrolled Blue Cash Preferred® Card, spend $9.99 or more each month on an auto-renewing Disney Bundle subscription, to receive a monthly statement credit of $7. Valid only at Disney Plus.com, Hulu.com or Plus.espn.com in the U.S.
- Apply with confidence. Know if you're approved for a Card with no impact to your credit score. If you're approved and you choose to accept this Card, your credit score may be impacted.

The Disney Streaming Credit Spending Threshold Is Going Away
In addition to increasing the Disney streaming credit, Amex is also removing the minimum spending threshold to earn the statement credit each month.
Prior to this change, Card Members needed to spend $9.99 or more each month on a subscription to the Disney Bundle to trigger the monthly credit, but this minimum has now been scrapped entirely.
This change will also apply to the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express. This card still offers enrolled Card Members up to $7 per month back in statement credits on eligible subscriptions to the Disney Bundle, but you no longer have to spend at least $9.99 to trigger the credit.
That said, the vast majority of plan options that qualify for the credit already cost more than $9.99 a month. So, while this change might not make a big difference for most people, it's still nice to see some of the red tape go away.

Bottom Line
Amex's cash back cards usually play second fiddle to its Membership Rewards-earning cards, at least for most award travel enthusiasts. However, there are still several good reasons to add one of these cash back cards to your wallet. And today's card benefit changes are yet another one.
The Blue Cash Preferred, in particular, is a strong earner. There are few better ways to reward your spending at U.S. supermarkets and on U.S. streaming services. And now, its annual fee is even easier to justify thanks to the increase in its Disney Streaming Credit. If you're among the majority of Americans who pay for streaming services, this card can help you earn a lot of cash back on those purchases.
Amex has also made the Disney Streaming Credit easier to use on both the Blue Cash Preferred and Blue Cash Everyday by removing the $9.99 minimum spend requirement. That change is mostly cosmetic, though, since most eligible streaming services already cost more than that.
Still, these are welcome updates. And the added value to the Blue Cash Preferred comes without any increase to its annual fee.
