Is Friends of Rome Worth It?
Roame.Travel offers a free plan that lets you search for one-way flights in real time, add basic filters, and use SkyView Lite, which gives you a 7-day flight search window for flights departing within 60 days.
The free version does exactly what it's supposed to — you can search for an award flight several months in advance, and searches often load in just a few seconds. It's significantly faster than competitors, but the downside is that you can only search for up to three days at a time and one way at a time, which makes it a little clunky to use.
However, even as a free user, I can filter my results by credit card point currency, airline programs, number of stops, cost in points, cost of taxes and fees, airports, and even aircraft.
Friends of Roame, the premium plan, is worth it for travel enthusiasts who want as much functionality as possible. Here's an idea of what you get access to:
- Access to SkyView. SkyView tracks 6,500 on the most popular routes, and searches from region to region. In other words, you can search by city, state, country, or continent rather than individual airports. You'll be able to view a 60-day flexible search for the entire award calendar. The ability to search multiple airports at once is fantastic, especially if you're flexible about where you want to go.
- Expanded search window. You can access a real-time 7-day flexible search, compared to a 3-day flexible search for free users.
- 10 Multi-region Super Alerts. You can track up to 60 days per route — even for region-to-region searches. You can use filters to find the flights you need and then monitor prices to know the exact time to book.
