Eligibility is limited for the Amex Offers discussed in this post. Enrollment is required in the Amex Offers section of your account before redeeming.

Most major U.S. banks offer a cash-back incentive program. These programs allow members to enroll a card in an offer for a specific merchant and then receive a rebate in the form of cash or points when using that card for eligible purchases.

Citi Merchant Offers are similar to both Amex Offers and Chase Offers in that you can add the offers you're interested in and then receive a kickback when you make a purchase. Not all cards are eligible to receive the offers, but if you have been targeted, it may be worth your while to review what is available to you. To make this even more enticing, Citi has recently expanded its offers to include both debit cards and credit cards.

Here's everything you need to know about Citi Merchant Offers.

Citi Merchant Offers Key Points

  • Targeted members can enroll in Citi Merchant Offers.
  • Offers must be activated before use.
  • You must use the linked Citi card as payment to receive the offer.
  • Offers include both in-store and online deals, so make sure to double-check the offer details.
  • You can double-dip your Citi Merchant Offers with shopping portals.

How To Access Citi Merchant Offers

Here are the steps to find Citi Merchant Offers and see if you have any available options for your card.

Types of Citi Merchant Offers

Citi Merchant Offers are broken into five categories: travel, dining and entertainment, shopping, and other. Overall, my Citi Rewards+® Card shows over 200 offers, with most of them falling into the shopping category.

Here are some examples of the offers that you may find:

  • Travel: 10% back on Lyft, $25 back on Turo, $50 back at JetBlue
  • Dining and entertainment: 10% back at Sea World, 15% back at Chipotle, 10% back at Olive Garden
  • Shopping: 18% back at Flowers.com, $3 back on Kindle, 2.5% back at Vans
  • Other: $50 back at AT&T, $50 back at Trust & Will

Citi Cards

There are various Citi credit cards that are eligible for Citi Merchant Offers. These include:

Furthermore, Citi recently announced that Merchant Offers would be available to both debit cardholders and credit cardholders.

Citi does not publish a list of eligible cards, so it's worth checking your accounts to see which cards may be eligible for the offers. Eligible cards may also change over time.

Unfortunately, Citi's small business credit cards aren't eligible for Citi Merchant Offers.

Stacking Citi Merchant Offers

Citi Merchant Offers should also be stackable with the various shopping portals. This allows you to double-dip your rewards by earning cash or points back through both your credit or debit card offers and the shopping portal. This system is colloquially known as stacking, and it's a simple way to maximize the value of each of your purchases.

To do this, go to cashbackmonitor.com and type in the store you want to purchase from. This allows you to compare shopping portals there to see which is offering the best rate. After that, shop through the selected portal at the store you've added to your Citi Merchant Offers, then be sure to use the eligible card to pay. You should end up with cash and/or points back from the selected portal and from the Merchant Offer.

It's worth noting that some AwardWallet users report being unable to stack Citi Merchant Offers with SimplyMiles. If you want to earn American miles and Loyalty Points through SimplyMiles, you'll likely want to skip enrolling in overlapping Citi Merchant Offers.

Final Thoughts

Maximizing everyday spending is a great way to boost your cash or points balance. Although it requires an extra step to add the offer to your card, taking advantage of Citi Merchant Offers is a simple way to make sure you receive a little kickback from your purchases.
