Travelers have an underrated way to earn American Airlines AAdvantage® miles — even when you’re not flying. It’s called SimplyMiles, and it offers an easy way to rack up AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points on everyday purchases made with any enrolled Mastercard.
Think of it like Amex Offers or Chase Offers, but with a twist: you’ll earn American Airlines miles instead of cash back. Plus, SimplyMiles is stackable with other earning tools — including the AAdvantage eShopping portal and your standard credit card earnings — making it a valuable addition to any mileage maximizer’s toolkit.
Here’s how SimplyMiles works, why it’s so easy to use, and how to take advantage of it to boost both your award travel balance and your progress toward AAdvantage elite status.

What is SimplyMiles?
SimplyMiles is a program that rewards users with American Airlines miles for in-store and online purchases. Simply link one of your Mastercards to the program, enroll in offers, and you are ready to go!
Like the Amex Offers and Chase Offers programs, SimplyMiles partners with certain stores, restaurants, and service providers. Through the SimplyMiles portal page, you enroll in a specific offer and then use an enrolled card to make a qualifying purchase on the offer. Once the transaction has posted, Mastercard will notify SimplyMiles about the purchase. You will be rewarded with AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points, typically within a week or so.

The SimplyMiles program works with any valid Mastercard — you don't need to have or use an American Airlines credit card to qualify! That means you can earn AAdvantage miles on a card like the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card since it's a Mastercard.
- Earn 140,000 Bonus Points
- Enjoy an Anniversary Free Night at IHG Hotels & Resorts. Plus, enjoy a fourth reward night free when you redeem points for a consecutive four-night IHG® hotel stay.

- Earn up to 26 points total per $1 spent when you stay at an IHG hotel
- 5X points per $1 spent on purchases on travel, gas stations, and restaurants

The earning for spending at IHG hotels breaks down as follows:
- Earn 10X points for being a IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card member
- Earn up to 6X points from IHG® with Platinum Elite Status, a benefit of having this card
- Earn up to 10X points from IHG® for being an IHG® One Rewards member (Being a cardholder is not required to earn this bonus for participating in the IHG® loyalty program)
Getting Started with SimplyMiles
To register with SimplyMiles, you must meet these requirements:
- U.S. resident
- 18 years or older
- Active AAdvantage account
- Active Mastercard
If you aren't enrolled in the American Airlines AAdvantage program, you can do so quickly and easily online. If you are wondering whether earning American Airlines miles is worth your time, know that you can use AAdvantage miles to travel on 22 airlines spanning over 1,100 destinations in 180 countries and territories. Additionally, it is one of the easiest airline programs for earning elite status and many miles for your award flights.

Users need a Mastercard in their name along with an AAdvantage account. Once you have your AAdvantage number and Mastercard, visit the SimplyMiles website to register for a free account.
If you carry a wallet full of cards, you can register a maximum of three Mastercards, so choose the ones you use most to link to the SimplyMiles program. When a specific bonus or stacking opportunity arises, you can swap out one card for another.
Earning Miles with SimplyMiles
Once your account is set up, you can sign in and check the home page to see available offers. These offers are updated frequently, so it's worth checking the website regularly. SimplyMiles typically has over 100 offers at any given time.
Scroll through the list and select “Add to Card” for any interesting offer you want to use.

When an offer is added, it will appear as “activated” in a small blue checkmark square at the upper right corner of the offer box. Offers will show whether you need to go into a store and/or shop online to be eligible for the purchase. You can also click on the offer to gather more information about the terms and conditions to receive the credit.

Be aware of the expiration date on the offer so you can make your purchase in plenty of time to receive the credit. Unlike online shopping portals, you generally do not need to make a purchase through the SimplyMiles site — just make an eligible purchase using an enrolled card at an enrolled merchant.
Stack to Earn More AAdvantage Miles
AAdvantage eShopping
Many offers on SimplyMiles are also stackable on American Airlines' eShopping portal. Once you add an offer, check the eShopping portal to see if you can increase your earnings. You will need to verify that the SimplyMiles offer is available online, as you will have to purchase through the eShopping portal to receive the credit.
For example, you could currently earn 4,300 miles with the meal delivery service Factor by shopping through the eShopping portal. There is also a 1,200-mile offer with SimplyMiles if you spend $50 or more with Factor. So you would earn 5,500 miles by going through the eShopping portal to purchase with Factor and the Mastercard registered with SimplyMiles. Remember, you also get at least the same number of Loyalty Points, so you are also moving towards a higher elite status with American Airlines!
AAdvantage co-branded cards
Finally, the AAdvantage co-branded cards are also Mastercards, so you can register these with SimplyMiles and earn even more points! Whether you have a AAdvantage® Aviator® Red World Elite Mastercard® or a Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®, your SimplyMiles earnings are in addition to the miles that you earn when you swipe your AAdvantage card.
Using AAdvantage Miles
Miles earned through a SimplyMiles offer are tracked and automatically added to your AAdvantage account. You can redeem AAdvantage miles for flights, seat selection, mileage upgrades, hotel stays, and even travel experiences! You can also donate your miles to help others.

Miles earned through SimplyMiles also count as Loyalty Points, helping you earn AAdvantage elite status. When miles are added to your account, Loyalty Points are counted toward your status progress. Unless an offer is marketed as earning “bonus miles”, you will receive the same number of Loyalty Points as miles.
Miles earned should be posted within three to five business days. Some transactions post quickly, while others take longer. Keep track of your purchases with this program to confirm your bonuses' posting. You can reach out to SimplyMiles to check on the purchase status. Their help is typically fast in responding to and resolving problems.
Final Thoughts
SimplyMiles has 100+ offers to help you significantly increase your American Airlines miles and Loyalty Points. The offers update frequently on the site, so checking every couple of weeks or before purchasing is worth it. Also, the ability to register any three Mastercards is unique.
Finally, SimplyMiles stands out from Amex Offers, Chase Offers, and other card offers, which are tied to a single card and may require you to click through a special link. SimplyMiles is very simple to use and tracks your purchases automatically.
Have you used SimplyMiles? If not, will you try them out and turbocharge your American Airlines earning power?

simply miles is the worse. Nothing posts. Tried to use the Caesar offer. Won’t post. Contacted them. And it took months only to say Planet Hollywood isn’t Caesar.
Used a shell gas offer. Never posted. Contacted them and no response.
Forget it.
Only problem with this program is that the offers are for mainly low value clothes/shoe brands. Also, these items can be purchased for much less from other stores than buying direct from the brand website.
Chase and Amex have much better brands and value.
Miles do not post reliably. And customer support in non-existent.
Such a shame this is not available in the UK. Had an AA branded credit card for years that was excellent for earning miles. Would reapply if one became available. Other than flights themselves, Super Shuttle seems to be the only definite source of miles for me.
Is this for American Airlines cards in the USA only
To participate in SimplyMiles, users need to be U.S. residents 18 years or older with an AAdvantage account and a Mastercard. And that’s it as far as restrictions go.
Can this be used in the UK or is it just for the USA?
Open to U.S. residents. Per T&C
It is a very good alternative to continue increasing the award miles
Very interesting article. SimplyMiles is a great way to increase my AAdvantage account balance.
Thanks for the info!
excelente articulo, sin embargo solo es para residentes de usa, esperemos que esta oferta llegue pronto a Mexico, para así poder seguir juntando millas.
Thanks to this post, I had activated the offers for 2x miles.
The good news: the miles for the 05/06 purchase show up under Simply Miles (but not yet on AA)
The not-so-good-news: Even though I had activated the offer, I received only the original miles and not 2x.
Side note: even without the 2x offer, the “Vitality Society” offer is pretty darn good. (2,000 miles on a purchase of $29.99 or more) that’s like purchasing 2000 miles for 1.49 cents. Now if I do get the double miles, that cost comes down to 0.75 cents!
I had no idea this was available. Joining Simply Miles today and registering my MC. Thank you! Valuable tip!
Too bad its only for us residents
This certainly is a nice offer for those that meet the requirements. It is good to take a look at these various options for earning points/miles on the ground whilst flying less than normal. I wish there were some current promotions on the ground that earned miles that counted towards Million Miler status as that would make things much more interesting.
Excellent! Thank you for the Information! Very useful!!
Coming across this offer just in time as it expires May 8. A little confusing about what type of MasterCard is needed as the offer bullet points state “Must enroll using an American Airlines Mastercard.” But the blog does make clear that any MasterCard linked would work! Off to try it out. Appreciation for the nuanced explanation of the offer alert.
I happened to saw this promotion and luckily got to sign up on the last day of the promotion period. Haven’t received the extra 400 miles yet, not sure when it will be posted. I shall wait and update here.
On the website, after I entered the AAdvantage number and card number, it says below:
Earn 2x the AAdvantage miles on any qualifying transaction when you Activate any SimplyMiles offer May 4th thru May 8th and use your American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard to make the purchase by May 31, 2021.
Hope this works for both of the accounts I just made. The password ‘creation’ was confusing, wish it specified to use the existing AA.com password…
I think you can earn the 400 miles as a new member as long as you have a Mastercard.
Thank you for this post. I appreciate picking up an easy 400 miles
Great article. Useful information!
Hope this arrives to Argentina soon.
Is this for American Airlines cards in the USA only or can it be an AA mastercard from other countries? Thank you for any info!
SimplyMiles requires that users need to be U.S. residents 18 years or older with an AAdvantage account and a Mastercard. So, if you’re a US resident with an overseas Mastercard, it should work.
Great offer and program… I was excited to sign up (especially for the 400 bonus miles)… but unfortunately, it is only for AA Mastercard holders (not other Mastercards) so I cant take AAvantage (!) of it…
Just signed up, dont see any decent offers available but it does say I received 400 points so can’t complain
This is an easy way to get bonus points! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this post! My miles are about to expire in 1 month so hopefully by signing into SimplyMiles I will be able to reset the timer. I have just signed up today and waiting to see how long it will take for the bonus miles to post.
Hello, thanks for such a complete report. I would like to know if there is any option for residents of Argentina.
Unfortunately, this offer is available only for U.S. residents.
very nice. 400 aadvantage miles for a simple job. thanks
This sounds great! I need to look into getting an AA credit card.
This sounds like a great program. I’m going to look into getting the AA MasterCard.
I don’t see anything on the registration page for Simply Miles indicating there’s a 400 mile bonus. Your link takes me to a generic sign-ups page
Yes, I see the same thing. As long as you click from the American Airlines page before registering, you shouldn’t have any issues.
I have been using SimplyMiles for a while and they do have a few decry stackable offers. Thanks for the heads up about the double miles on offers activated during the promotion. I’ll head to the site now to see if there are any that would be useful.
Unfortunately, I am neither an US resident , nor a bearer of any AA MasterCard.
I wonder how many US residents these days hold an AA Mastercard, since Barclays is such a minor player in the US market.
You’ll want to drop a couple words out of the 2nd bullet point describing the bonus offer. And, it’s an important drop. It does not need to be an AA Mastercard; it can be any MC. You’ve got it right elsewhere, but that’s a prominent place and might have some folks who are skimming erroneously turn away. Regardless, thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the clarification. I have MasterCards, but no AA MasterCards.
Here are the terms on the AA website:
Terms and Conditions for SimplyMiles offer
Enrollment Offer for new members:
Offer valid May 4, 2021 through May 8, 2021, (the “Promotion Period”).
Enroll in the SimplyMiles Program during the Promotion Period with an American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard and earn a one-time, 400 AAdvantage mile, sign-on bonus.
Offer not valid for use with any other credit cards except an American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard.
Sadly, appears to be useless for holders of non-AA MasterCards. Just tried, but got this error message: “Sorry! It appears the card you entered is not eligible for this program. Please try again with a different Mastercard.” Bait and hook?
This is awesome. Always keep us updated w easy ways to earn!
Easy sign-up, and keep in mind that the login password to SimplyMiles is the same as your AAdvantage account.
I just got a Citi AAdvantage card, and am definitely going to take AAdvantage (no pun intended) of this right away. I always assumed that AA points weren’t worth much because they don’t have any bank transfer partners, but their points are as easy to earn as my Chase cards. Excellent article, as usual!
Esta promoción es para tarjetas Mastercard de cualquier banco?
Thanks for the heads up…hopefully AwardWallet will provide tracking in this program.
At first I was going to say I doubt it, since the miles earned here are simply AA miles that are then automatically added to your AAdvantage account. So, tracking your main account would really suffice. But, with the posting delay, maybe it makes some sense.
The article is very interesting, it would be great if it later arrived in Argentina
Living abroad of US turns a limitation while trying to use both programs: anyway in less developed countires, AA is trying to reach agreements with major banks so they can start issuing their card at premium levels; Santander in Uruguay did so a few years ago and AA is trying to reach and agreement with other major banks in other countries.
Nice partnership, sadly I’ve a cobranded visa instead a Mastercard
I’ll have to use Cashback Monitor to compare these offers to those at other portals.
It isn’t a shoppong portal.
True. This stacks with other credit card offers and with portal earning opportunities.
Interesting for US customers, unfortunately not available in other countries.
As always 🙁 It’s over a year now we can not fly to the U.S. and earn miles. Would love to spend some money on AA.
I’ve used this program with success with both my Aadvantage Executive card as well as my Barclaycard arrival plus. I was lucky that the miles quickly posted each time because it doesn’t seem that dealing with their customer service is very easy
The value here is to look for offers that award miles per offer rather than miles per dollar spend. Once in a while there are some lucrative offers, particularly when they ran a 5x bonus promo last Christmas.
