If you've missed it, some big stuff is happening with Alaska Airlines. Let's start with the one you care about most when time is of the essence: The new award charts are rolling out.

If you've been waiting around and haven't booked yet, you should absolutely do so now if you can find any of the “old pricing” still available.

Here's what you need to know.

New Alaska Award Charts Are Turning On

There's a lot changing with Alaska Mileage Plan this year, including:

Whoo, that's a lot. So, why are we making this post? Because those new award charts are starting to turn on.

Not All Charts Are Live, So Book ASAP

However, in an email statement from Alaska Airlines, we learned that not all of the new award charts have rolled out yet:

“The new award pricing and inventory will start rolling out today and throughout the week for travel from the US to Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and within EMEA. The remaining regions – Asia Pacific (APAC) and Americas – will roll out in the subsequent weeks, with APAC following EMEA, wrapping up with the Americas by the end of the month.”

Thus, the awards changing first are those between the U.S. and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as awards within those regions.

Flights to Asia Pacific and the Americas will roll out over the next few weeks.

Thus, if you have a stash of Alaska miles and had your eyes on any award bookings, you should absolutely try to book them now. Like, “Stop reading and book them now” type of now. If you can find any of the current, soon-to-be-old award pricing, you should jump on it. Talk to your spouse, kids, or travel partner afterward. The cancellation fee might be worth it.

Bottom Line

Alaska Mileage Plan's new award charts are rolling out. There will be large increases to the number of miles required on some routes (to be clear, pricing isn't going up on everything, but it's going up on a lot of our favorite award redemptions). If you find an award available where the price hasn't gone up yet, you should probably book first and ask questions later.
