Looking for a gift to send your travel-loving Valentine? Well, Delta wants you to consider giving a Delta gift card — and is offering bonus miles to incentivize you. Now through February 17, 2025, you can earn 2x SkyMiles on eligible purchases of Delta gift cards.
Unlike Delta's annual Black Friday bonus miles offer, your bonus earning rate doesn't depend on your Delta Medallion elite status. However, you'll still need to be really generous to trigger bonus mileage earnings.
Here are the important terms and how to take advantage of this promotion.

How Much is This Delta Gift Card Promotion Worth?
AwardWallet users have redeemed SkyMiles for an average of 1.34¢ per mile. However, this value ranges from 1.21¢ for U.S. domestic flights in economy up to 2.4¢ in long-haul, international business class. Even for those who fly Delta a lot, buying a $200 gift card to get 400 extra SkyMiles isn't going to be game-changing. You're just getting something around $5 worth of points, on average.
Where this deal becomes great is that Delta processes its gift card sales directly. That means the purchase of gift cards should code as an airfare purchase. So, you could earn 2X SkyMiles plus up to 5X miles or points on the purchases — depending on which credit card you use. See our list of the best credit cards for travel purchases for ideas. Thus, on a $200 purchase, you could end up with $5 worth of Delta SkyMiles and $20 worth of bank points — plus your Delta gift card, of course.
Our Take
Earning 2x SkyMiles on Delta gift card purchases isn't earth-shattering. However, it's a nice little bonus if you're considering getting someone a really nice gift. Keep in mind that you can't use Delta gift cards to pay the taxes/fees on award bookings, so this gift card is only valid on purchasing a cash ticket.

Delta is my last choice for miles bonuses. So hard to get good value out of them, international long haul are often 300k point range.
will a 200$ gift card count as an incidental purchase that qualifies for the amex platinum credit?
No, it will not. They did some coding in the back end to block this.
I think this offer it´s good,,,but the world situation makes me feel unsure about the purchase
Thanks. Just before I am about to book a Delta flight. One question, if using the Platinum, will this also trigger the remainder of a person’s $200 yearly airfare credit (with Delta the chosen airline)?
No, they changed the coding to prevent this.
Thanks for confirming!
It’s an ok promotion but there are probably better ways to maximize value and/or reward/point earnings.
This deal is a no-brainer if you know you’re going to be paying for an upcoming flight. But if you’re buying speculatively, I would not recommend anyone do that.
Just in time for Holiday shopping
I like the bonus. However, I have been hesitant investing in the Delta Skymiles program because I feel that the mile have devaluated a lot. Still a good deal if you are buying a gift anyway or flying soon.
Nice promo, I am impressed with Delta throughout the past 20 months
A good deal becomes very good because they don’t use points.com. I wish more airlines would follow suit.
What is the maximum purchase amount?
There’s a maximum of $10k in one order when I just tried to add a ton to my cart. There’s nothing in the terms saying that you can’t buy again after 1 transaction, but I don’t know anyone who’s ever tried, so no data to report on whether you can buy again after that $10k.
Thank you. Perfect timing. I had a couple of credit cards that I was looking for options to meet spending requirement for bonus. This is a wonderful opportunity.
If I use the purchased gift card to pay for a flight, will I also get Delta points for this?
You will! It counts as a normal cash airfare booking.
It’s a perfect double-dipping opportunity then if you’re sure you need to buy a Delta ticket.
