The big news today is that Capital One is adding not one, not two, but three new transfer partners. It’s big news when bank transfer programs add even one new partner, so three at once is a huge deal.
With the additions of Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, and Preferred Hotels I Prefer Hotel Rewards, Capital One now has 22 transfer partners. For now, that makes it the rewards program with the most transfer partners among major U.S. card issuers.
Here’s what you need to know about these new partners and some tips for earning the miles you’ll need to take advantage of them.

Capital One Expands Transferable Rewards Program, Adds Three Transfer Partners
Effective September 23, 2025, Capital One added three new partners to its Capital One transfer partner lineup. These additions bring the total from 19 to 22, leapfrogging programs like Citi ThankYou® Rewards and Bilt Rewards to take the top spot for the most transfer partners.
Let's introduce you to the newest additions.
Qatar Airways Privilege Club
Qatar Airways Privilege Club is now the third Avios program to join Capital One’s lineup, alongside British Airways and Finnair. Cardholders can transfer miles 1:1 to Qatar Airways and book directly to access the best Qsuite availability and other Privilege Club partner sweet spots.
You can also move your Avios from your Privilege Club account to another program like British Airways, Finnair, or Iberia. A unique perk of Avios is that you can transfer them freely between participating airlines. This gives you the latitude to tap into each program’s best sweet spots.

Japan Airlines (JAL) Mileage Bank
Until recently, it was much harder to earn Japan Airlines Mileage Bank miles. But this year, JAL has become a transfer partner of a couple of U.S.-based rewards programs — the newest being Capital One.
There’s a catch, though. Transfers aren’t 1:1. They’re 2:1.5. That means you’ll get 1,500 Mileage Bank miles for every 2,000 Capital One miles you transfer. On top of that, new JAL Mileage Bank accounts come with a seven-day waiting period before you can redeem miles, so it's worth signing up as soon as possible to start the clock.
But to help soften the blow, Capital One is kicking things off with its first-ever transfer bonus to JAL. From September 23 through October 23, 2025, you’ll get a 30% bonus. With the bonus in place, 2,000 Capital One miles will net you 1,950 JAL miles.
As for what you can book, take a look at JAL’s award charts. They were adjusted earlier this year (mostly to the downside), but there’s still solid value in business and first class — especially when you factor in the transfer bonus.
I Prefer Hotel Rewards
The third new partner is one you might not be as familiar with: I Prefer Hotel Rewards. With this addition, I Prefer becomes Capital One’s fourth hotel transfer partner.
I Prefer Hotel Rewards is the loyalty program of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. In short, this is a collection made up mostly of upscale, independent properties. Think of it as similar to Small Luxury Hotels of the World or Mr & Mrs Smith. We’ve highlighted the value of using Citi ThankYou points with I Prefer, so it’s exciting to see the program now available through Capital One as well.
Even better, I Prefer is joining as a 1:2 transfer partner. That means every 1,000 Capital One miles you transfer will net you 2,000 points.
Ways to Earn More Capital One Miles
Capital One miles are more versatile today than they were yesterday. Even if you don’t plan to use the new partners, they’re still valuable for transfers to existing partners or for fixed-rate travel redemptions. And there are plenty of ways to earn more.
One of the quickest ways to rack up a meaningful sum is by opening a new card and earning the welcome bonus. Here are some of the best offers available now:

Other ways to keep the miles flowing after you’ve earned a signup bonus include spending in your card’s bonus categories, taking advantage of Capital One offers in your online account, and referring friends to Capital One cards. Before long, you’ll have plenty of miles and no shortage of ways to use them.

Bottom Line
The Capital One miles program is an easy favorite. Beyond the many ways to earn miles, it’s clear how much Capital One continues to invest in the product, from adding new transfer partners (four in 2025 alone) to expanding the Capital One Travel portal to even rolling out new airport lounges.
Whether you end up transferring miles to Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines, or Preferred Hotels or not, it’s refreshing to see Capital One focusing primarily on building rather than taking away.
