Capital One’s premium airport lounges have made waves for their stylish design and solid amenities. But with the debut of its Capital One Landing concept, the issuer is taking a different approach — one that puts food front and center.
Unlike traditional lounges that focus on workspaces and light bites, Capital One Landing is a hybrid lounge-restaurant experience curated by celebrity chef José Andrés. It’s an elevated dining space you can enjoy before takeoff — whether you’re sitting down for tapas or grabbing gourmet food to go.
So, how do these new Landing lounges differ from Capital One lounges, and are they worth visiting? Here's what travelers need to know.

What Are Capital One Landing Lounges?
The Capital One Landing lounge concept is similar in design to the issuer’s standard lounges, but with a major distinction. These lounges function as both restaurants and lounges, and are built in partnership with celebrity chef José Andrés.
When describing the collaboration, Andrés said his goal was to blend “the Spanish tapas way of eating” with “the bounty of American farms and traditions.” The result is a premium dining experience that makes Landing lounges unique.

While other airport lounges also feature chef-inspired menus (for example, American Express partners with local chefs at its Centurion Lounges and American Airlines collaborates with the James Beard Foundation for its Flagship Lounges), Capital One is the only issuer that makes the culinary partnership the centerpiece of the experience.
At Capital One Landing lounges, travelers can enjoy chef-curated meals onsite or grab food to go — all while enjoying the benefits of a typical lounge environment.

Capital One Landing Lounge at Washington National Airport:
The first Capital One Landing lounge opened at Washington National Airport (DCA) in November 2024. It’s located in Terminal 2, after security, near the entrance to Concourse D. Since the terminal’s concourses are connected airside, travelers departing from Concourses B, C, D, and E can all access the lounge.
The lounge spans 5,483 square feet and includes a tapas bar, made-to-order plates, and grab-and-go options. A sample of menu items includes:
- Eggs Benedict
- Labneh Cone (labneh, caviar, and lemon)
- Carne Asada con Mojo Verde
- Croquetas (daily chef’s selection)

The Capital One Landing lounge is by far the best lounge for those looking for an elevated dining experience at Washington National Airport. However, for travelers seeking a more typical lounge experience with ample room for work or relaxation, both the American Airlines Admirals Club in Concourse E and the American Express Centurion Lounge near Concourse B are solid choices.
Coming Soon: Capital One Landing at New York LaGuardia
After a series of delays, Capital One has confirmed the Landing lounge at New York LaGuardia (LGA) will finally open later this year. Other information has been sparse, but we do have one official rendering of the space.
Here’s what to expect when the LGA Landing lounge opens:
- 10,700 square feet
- Located at the start of the skybridge to gates B11–B30
- Indoor and outdoor seating with skyline views of New York City

While outdoor seating was originally planned, it’s unclear whether this is still in the works. The lounge rendering does not show any outdoor space, and recent construction suggests the area previously designated for it may have been repurposed.

But we’re hopeful Capital One finds a way to preserve those scenic views.

Despite the lingering questions, if the LGA lounge is anything like its DCA counterpart, it’s sure to be a welcome addition, especially for travelers seeking a quality meal before their flight.

Bottom Line
Capital One Landing lounges offer something you won’t find in most airport lounges: a dedicated culinary experience. By partnering with José Andrés and leaning into restaurant-style dining, Capital One has carved out a niche that sets these spaces apart.
While they may not be ideal for travelers looking to spread out and relax for hours, Capital One Landing locations shine for quick, high-quality meals in a premium setting — especially when access is free or discounted with the right Capital One credit card.
If you value excellent food over extra seating or showers, these lounges might just become your new favorite pre-flight ritual.
