Capital One Savor Cash Benefits

In addition to having strong earning potential on dining and entertainment spending, the Capital One Savor Cash provides cardholders with several other benefits, including extended warranty on eligible items, travel perks, and more.

Capital One Entertainment

With this card, you can earn 8% cash back on Capital One Entertainment purchases. Eligible entertainment experiences include VIP sports packages, concerts, and special dining events. You can pay for tickets using Capital One miles or cash back from your card, so you have options.

Unfortunately, Capital One cardholder-exclusive presale tickets, tickets purchased directly through Capital One Hall or Capital One Arena ticketing, and reservations or purchases through Capital One Dining do not earn 8% cash back.

Cardholders also enjoy travel accident insurance on trips paid for with their card.

Discounts at Capital One Cafés

Cash back can be redeemed as a statement credit, gift cards, or purchases made through PayPal or at Amazon.com.

Miles provide additional redemption options not available with cash back, such as access to Capital One's transfer partners.

Application Restrictions

Capital One has a few application restrictions to keep in mind when applying for any personal Capital One credit card.

Perhaps most restrictive: Existing or previous cardholders aren’t eligible for the current welcome bonus if they received a new-cardmember bonus for the Savor within the past 48 months.

Data points suggest Capital One may approve applicants for no more than one new card every six months, although this is not a published rule. And be aware that Capital One will most likely pull your credit report from all three major credit bureaus.

Finally, Capital One seems to limit the number of Capital One cards you can have at one time. While Capital One doesn't publish this policy, a Capital One banker shared that you can have up to five Capital One credit cards at a time, spread across different card families (Venture, Quicksilver, and Savor), plus 1 charge card. Business cards do not typically count against the number of personal Capital One credit cards you can hold at one time.

Cards That Compete With the Capital One Savor Cash

If you want to make a more informed decision about your next credit card, here are three great options that compete with the Capital One Savor Cash:

  • If you want to earn Capital One miles instead of cash back: you might like the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card. This card also has no annual fee and earns unlimited 1.25 Miles per dollar on every purchase, every day. 5 Miles per dollar on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. Cardholders can transfer these miles to 22 airline and hotel partners for award bookings, and you'll get additional insurance protections as a cardholder. Our Capital One VentureOne review has more details.
  • If you want better earning rates on daily spending: the Citi Double Cash® Card (Rates & Fees) provides 2% cash back on all purchases — 1% when you buy plus 1% as you pay. While you won't earn bonus cash back in any special categories, you'll have a simple earning structure and better earnings on those “other” purchases. Read our Citi Double Cash review to find out more.
  • If you're eligible for a Chase credit card: consider the Chase Freedom Unlimited® (Rates & Fees). You'll earn 5% on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3% on dining at restaurants and drugstores, and 1.5% on other eligible purchases, which are excellent earning rates for a card that also charges no annual fee!
