Chase just relaunched its recurring 20% transfer bonus to Air Canada Aeroplan. Now through January 15, 2025, eligible Chase cardholders can transfer Ultimate Rewards to Aeroplan with a 20% transfer bonus. For reference, this is the fifth such transfer bonus we've seen such a bonus since Chase added Air Canada as a transfer partner in August 2021.

This Aeroplan transfer bonus gets even better for those with a Aeroplan® Credit Card. Cardholders can get an extra 10% bonus on their transfers when transferring at least 50k points. More about that below.

Stack Aeroplan Card Transfer Bonuses

Chase Aeroplan® Credit Card holders can currently receive a 10% transfer bonus when transferring a minimum of 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Aeroplan. You can earn a maximum of 25,000 bonus points through this 10% bonus — requiring transfers of 250k points.

This 20% transfer bonus stacks with the existing promotion. This means that if you are a Chase Aeroplan Card holder, you can receive a 30% transfer bonus.

For example, say you transfer exactly 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Aeroplan. This new Aeroplan transfer bonus will add 10,000 Aeroplan points, and the cardholder bonus will tack on another 5,000 Aeroplan points for a total of 65,000 Aeroplan points.

This 30% bonus can be leveraged with some of Aeroplan’s excellent sweet spots can make this deal extremely lucrative and hard to beat.

Making the Most of Your Aeroplan Points

You have a huge range of options for using your Aeroplan points. The program has a generous award chart. You can leverage your points for excellent value by taking advantage of some of the best Aeroplan sweet spots.

North America to Europe

One-way awards between North America and Europe start at 35,000 Aeroplan points in economy — or just 60,000 points in business class.

For example, a one-way award on Singapore's fifth freedom route from New York to Frankfurt will set you back 35,000 points plus CAD$47 ($34) in taxes and fees.

That means you'd need to transfer 30k Ultimate Rewards points to Aeroplan during this bonus. However, if you are an Aeroplan Card holder with the added bonus, then this would be an even better value at 54k Chase Ultimate Rewards points round-trip (since you need to transfer 50k Chase points to get the additional 10% bonus).

However, the deal is even better if you want to fly in a premium cabin. Flights under 4,000 miles in business class will set you back 60,000 points plus taxes and fees.

The 4,000-mile range covers many city pairings from Newark and JFK to many European destinations. These include London, Dublin, Paris, Frankfurt, and Zurich, to name a few.

Transferring points through the standard promotion rate requires just 50k Ultimate Rewards points each way. You can also pay even less if you take advantage of the additional 10% bonus for Aeroplan cardholders.

Flights Within South America

After a semi-recent Aeroplan award chart change, flights within South America now start at 10,000 points for one-way awards in economy.

Longer routes can also be a good deal. For example, you can head from Bogota, Colombia, to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for 20,000 points plus taxes and fees. Also, you even have a couple of routing choices. You can fly direct or have a 20-hour layover to explore Quito for no additional points cost.

Using this Aeroplan transfer bonus, you'd only need to transfer 17k Chase Ultimate Rewards points. That's an excellent return on your points for a 6-hour flight.

Head to Hawaii for 12,500 points

One-way trips from the U.S. West Coast to Hawaii start from 12,500 points in economy plus taxes and fees, and a round trip will set you back 25,000 points.

This can be an even better value with the transfer bonus, with round-trip awards setting you back 21k Chase points. If you're a cardholder and transfer enough points to trigger the additional bonus, then it would only cost 20k Ultimate Rewards points round-trip.

Ultra-long-haul From the Pacific to Europe

There is some value to be found on ultra-long haul economy awards as well. Flights over 7,000 miles from the Pacific zone (including Australia) to the Atlantic zone (Europe) start from 60,000 points plus taxes and fees. A one-way economy award on Air Canada partner Etihad from Sydney to London costs 65,000 points plus taxes and fees.

You'd only need to transfer 55k Chase points to Aeroplan during the bonus promotion — plus pay taxes and fees.

Maximize your stopovers

Due to the way Air Canada divides the world up, there is some great value to be had with a stopover. Consider that the Atlantic zone is enormous. The zone stretches from the United Kingdom to India and from Finland to South Africa.

Traveling from Atlanta to Dubai with a 2-day stopover in Frankfurt will set you back 60,000 points plus taxes and fees. This is excellent value and substantially cheaper than booking both awards separately.

If you opt to transfer points using this transfer bonus, this stopover award can cost you just 50k Chase points plus taxes and fees.

Aeroplan Points Expiration Policy

Aeroplan points expire if the Aeroplan member hasn't redeemed or accumulated points in 18 months. This being said, Air Canada has suspended all expiration of points through November 30, 2025. Aeroplan members don't have to worry about their points expiring until then.

Thankfully, you can help save your expiring points by transferring from an Aeroplan bank partner. That means taking advantage of this Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer bonus to Aeroplan will extend your points by another 18 months from the date of transfer.

Boosting Your Aeroplan Points Balance

Building up your Aeroplan points balance is relatively straightforward. The airline is one of the few North American carriers that are partners with virtually every major flexible points currency. As a result, you can boost your points balance by transferring any of the following points:

Our Take

This promotion can be very lucrative, especially if you can stack it with the additional 10% transfer bonus that co-brand cardholders receive. The last day you can initiate a transfer with this 20% Aeroplan transfer bonus is January 15, 2025.

Getting the maximum bonus and marrying it to a great Aeroplan sweet spot can yield excellent value. Needless to say, we never recommend transferring credit card points speculatively, no matter how good the deal. So, if you can't make this transfer work with your plans, you are best leaving your Ultimate Rewards points alone.
