CLEAR members can now use their membership to benefit from expedited security screening at New York/JFK Terminal 4. The move is the first new addition of CLEAR lanes in New York since CLEAR was first added to JFK and LaGuardia in January 2017.
CLEAR At JFK Terminal 4
Clear Kiosks and facilities will be available from the following times at JFK Terminal 4:
- 03:30 am to midnight for the standard security lines
- 05:00 am to midnight if you have TSA PreClear
If you wish to enroll in the program, CLEAR facilities are also available from 03:30 am to midnight.
How Does CLEAR Work?
CLEAR is there to speed up the document check part of clearing security. At the CLEAR Kiosks, you use your Iris Scan and Fingerprint to confirm your identity. Once that is done, a CLEAR agent escorts you to the front of the TSA Pre✓ lane or the standard security lane. Using CLEAR is the quickest way to clear security at an airport since you are effectively taken to the front of the security lanes.
CLEAR membership will set you back $189 per year, although if you are a Delta SkyMiles member, you are eligible for various levels of discount depending on your status level. Remember various premium credit cards offer a statement credit towards enrolment in trusted traveler programs, however, don't expect CLEAR to be covered.
Our Take
This is excellent news if you are a regular user of JFK Terminal 4, which is primarily used by Delta and a host of other international airlines. Even if you have TSA PreClear, adding CLEAR to it would make clearing security through JFK Terminal 4 a breeze. Hopefully, we will see CLEAR add more locations to the 35 it already has across the nation at the time of the JFK T4 addition.

Thanks for the info!
I hope there will be cc’s that add Clear membership as a perk…
how are the Clear lanes??? good or GREAT?
This “service” is actually the standard procedure at quite a few airports around the world.
Which ones?
As technology for airline security improves, the TSA wait lines will reduce.
Quite expensive compared to Global Entry/Pre-Check.
I wonder if CLEAR will become a main stream for expedited security screening.
So far none of my friends have any interest in CLEAR.
Same here. Don’t know anyone. However, I think this is the predictable pace of such a rollout. Not enough of a footprint for WOM yet.
This is great news, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the PSA, Clear has been helpful a number of times when I’m running late for our flight!
finally clear lanes are here.
Kennedy is inconvenient away from much of New York City and the region, I wouldn’t say “here’.
good news.
Might be useful for the small number of airports that have it, but CLEAR isn’t widespread enough for most travelers to really take advantage.
Wow, there are a lot of options. I think that I might be better off sticking with Mobile Passport and Global Entry.
