The cost of CLEAR® Plus is set to increase by another $10 on July 1, 2025. If you've been eyeing a membership, now's the time to register before the price increases from $199 annually to $209 annually. This price increase hasn't been posted yet on the company's website. Instead, the company shared the news directly with The Points Guy.
For now, cards that offer statement credits to cover the cost of a CLEAR Plus membership haven't made adjustments to compensate for the price hike. However, Amex reportedly plans to increase its CLEAR statement credits as the new price takes effect.

CLEAR to Raise the Cost of Plus Membership by $10
The news here is pretty straightforward: A CLEAR Plus membership will soon be even pricier. It's the third time in the past three years that CLEAR has increased its prices. An individual CLEAR Plus membership currently costs $199, but that's set to increase to $209 on July 1, 2025.
At this point, it's unclear if CLEAR will also increase the price of CLEAR Family. Currently, CLEAR charges an additional $119 per adult family member added to your account. However, children under 18 can still join you in the security lane free of charge.

Thankfully, several ways still exist to avoid these now-higher rates entirely or, at the very least, reduce their impact on your wallet.

How to get CLEAR Plus for free (or nearly free)
Corresponding with this price increase, American Express plans to hike the CLEAR Plus statement credit on six cards from $199 to $209. That means the following cards can still cover the cost of an individual membership, provided you enroll in the benefit before paying for CLEAR:
- American Express® Green Card
- The Platinum Card® from American Express
- The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
- Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card
- The American Express Corporate Platinum Card®
- Centurion® Card from American Express

- Earn 5X points for flights booked directly with airlines or with American Express Travel® (up to $500,000 in purchases per calendar year).
- Earn 5X points on prepaid hotels booked with American Express Travel®.

- Earn 1.5X Membership Rewards® points on each eligible purchase of $5,000 or more.

- Earn 1.5X Membership Rewards® points on each eligible purchase with U.S. electronic goods retailers and software & cloud system providers.

CLEAR also partners with several airlines to offer discounts to loyalty program members, elite status holders, and cardholders. On the high end, some programs will comp your annual membership:

At the time of writing, airlines offering discounts, bonus miles, or complimentary CLEAR memberships have yet to price in CLEAR's new rates. The benefits or discounts may increase at some point, so it might be worth taking advantage of current rates — or holding off on these promotions to wait and see if better promotions are offered.

CLEAR Plus Price History
If a CLEAR Plus price sounds familiar, that's because CLEAR has increased the price of its service by $10 several times over the past few years:
- 2010: Launched with an annual fee of $179.
- May 2022: CLEAR increased pricing from $179 to $189.
- August 2024: CLEAR increased pricing from $189 to $199.
- July 2025: CLEAR will increase pricing from $199 to $209.
The price of CLEAR Plus remained $179 for over a decade but has now seen three increases in just three years. Still, the latest hike brings the total increase to just 17% since the program launched in 2010.
Final Thoughts
It's never fun to write about prices going up. That said, with several methods of getting a CLEAR Plus membership for free or at a significantly reduced rate, this news shouldn't hit too hard. If you're after a CLEAR membership, check for cardholder benefits and/or airline discounts before you enroll; you should never have to pay full price for an individual membership.
