Delta's adoption of Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) as its sole status-earning metric spelled the end for Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQMs). However, MQMs aren't entirely irrelevant… yet. Through December 31, 2024, you can convert your rollover MQMs into SkyMiles, MQDs, or use them to extend your Medallion elite status.
Here's a breakdown of your options.
Convert Your Rollover Delta MQMs Before December 31, 2024
If you haven't made your Delta rollover MQMs choice yet, you'll need to act soon. Before the end of 2024, you'll need to decide what you want to do with any rollover MQMs you earned through 2023.
Depending on the number of rollover Medallion Qualification Miles in your account, you'll have up to three conversion options:
- SkyMiles elite status extension: 100,000 MQMs per year
- Convert MQMs to MQDs: 10 MQMs = $1 MQD
- Convert MQMs to SkyMiles: 2 MQMs = 1 SkyMile
Delta will also let you combine choices. So, if you want to convert your MQMs into both SkyMiles and MQDs, that's an option you can pick. All selections are final, so there's no going back once you click “Confirm.”
However, if you don't log into your Delta profile and make a decision by December 31, 2024, Delta will automatically convert your MQMs into MQDs. You can make your decision at delta.com/myskymiles/convertmqms.

The status extension caveat
If you've got enough MQMs in your Delta account to extend your SkyMiles elite status for another year or two (or more), there's a caveat you'll want to know about. Delta will extend the Medallion status that you earned in 2023.
So, if you earned Gold Medallion in 2023, this is the tier that Delta will extend. However, if you will earn (or have already earned) a higher level of SkyMiles status in 2024, your rollover perk won't apply to the higher tier.
At best, Delta will extend your Gold status for however many years your MQMs will afford — should you choose this option. But this limitation is worth keeping in mind before you make a selection, especially if you plan to round out 2024 by doing a lot of Delta flying. Depending on your situation, you may get more mileage (literally) out of choosing another option.
If you still have travels planned for 2024, it could be worth waiting until the absolute last minute to make a decision. This way, you can make an informed choice based on where your Medallion status sits when you're closer to the deadline. But don't forget to decide before the calendar flips over; you'll just wind up with a sum of MQDs if you don't submit your choice.

Final Thoughts
For the last time ever, you can take advantage of Delta's Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) rollover. If you haven't already, you'll need to decide the fate of your MQMs, whether that's swapping them for Delta SkyMiles, Medallion Qualification Dollars, or extending your elite status for another year. And you'll need to do so before December 31, 2024, which will be here before you know it.
