Delta has announced their latest award flash sale for destinations in the Caribbean and Florida this fall. There is some great value to be had with deals starting at 20,000 SkyMiles roundtrip. You will have to hurry though since bookings must be made by 11:59 PM ET, Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
Terms and Conditions for the Flash Sale
The terms and conditions are straightforward:
- Reservations must be made by 11:59 PM ET May 10, 2017
- Travel Dates from September 26 through November 14, 2017
- Flights start from 20,000 SkyMiles roundtrip plus taxes and fees
- Offer is valid for flights departing from the contiguous 48 United States
- A portion of travel can be completed on a Delta Connection Carrier
What Destinations Are Included
There are plenty of great destinations in the Caribbean and Florida to be had. The flash sale applies to bookings for the following destinations:
- Antigua
- Bermuda
- Bonaire
- Bridgetown
- Florida
- Freeport
- Grand Cayman
- Grenada
- Havana
- Marsh Harbour
- Nassau
- North Eleuthera
- Saint Kitts
- Saint Maarten
Given the timing, we'd recommend double-checking the credit card you use to make your purchase in case of mother nature. You'll want to use a credit card that comes with free travel insurance, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. Paying for even just the taxes/fees will offer you coverage on this purchase.
Overall
Although the timing is a little awkward at the tail end of the Hurricane season, you still have over a month of travel window. In light of Delta’s recent devaluation of partner awards, using your miles for a Caribbean vacation could be a great option.

Would have been a nice (and rare) opportunity to put some skymiles to good use, but sadly didn’t fit with my travel plans
I value B6 more fore Caribbean awards usually.
About 5 years ago i applied for a Delta AMEX. Got the card but not bonus miles. Got them too many times. Have not gotten Delta Bonus miles in 8 years. They say it’s once in a lite time. Can I get them again?
According to the terms of the card application, no, you cannot. That said, we have read cases of people getting bonuses after an extended (7+ years) time period of not receiving a bonus. YMMV
I exhausted my delta miles, darn. delta is one of the easiest to book cross country for 25K miles R/T. A good strategy never book R/T but 2 separate one way tickets. You will have more choices.
Going to the Caribbean would be great! Need to look into this.
Here we come, Caribbean!
Really a good promo but I didn’t had the time to check availability and some info about some destinations.
I hope Delta will give us some more time next time.
Too short of a time period to consider these.
Some great destinations but don’t have vacation time at work to enjoy those sales!
Seemed interesting at first but could not find anything of interest!
Dates are a little bit tricky. Need to get a vacation approved!
I like the flash sale however as a teacher these dates don’t work for me! I am also not one to travel during hurricane season because of the unreliable weather.
It would be good to offload my miles at decent value but no dates for me…
I did not find anything that works for me.
Pretty sure I’m not tempted to travel to these destinations during hurricane season.
Later in the window should re relatively safe. And there are a number of destinations that are out of the hurricane belt.
this is okay if you can find the inventory
This is a great deal if you can find dates that work for you. Looking at Florida there were a limited number of flights that were 20,000 miles round trip.
Do they just devalue their program so they can have these flash sales?
Good value, albeit in typically low season. But the sort booking window makes it a nonstarter. Smacks of a DL PR stunt.
