If you're a Lyft rider who hasn't linked their Alaska Mileage Plan account yet, now is the perfect time to do so. Alaska Airlines is offering those who link their Mileage Plan accounts to Lyft the opportunity to collect 1,000 bonus miles and save a bundle on their first ride.
Here are all the details on the Lyft-Alaska partnership and who is eligible to collect the account linking bonus.
Alaska-Lyft 1,000 Bonus Miles Promotion
Alaska Airlines' partnership with Lyft isn't new, but the elevated offer for new account linkers has obviously caught our eye. If you've never linked your Mileage Plan account to Lyft, you can earn 1,000 Alaska miles if you do so now and take a Lyft ride that costs at least $15. It's that easy.
But that's not all. As a new rider, you can save 50% on your first ride as well, which can knock up to $10 off your final price.
This new linking bonus will be available until December 3, 2024. And to reiterate, if you've previously linked your accounts, you will be ineligible for this offer, but you can still earn miles on rides.
Should you earn Alaska miles on future Lyft rides?
All Lyft riders — both newly linked accounts and those who linked long ago — can earn 1X Alaska mile per dollar you spend on rides. To do so, set your Lyft earning preference to Alaska miles; you can do this in your Lyft account settings.
However, it's worth considering other, more valuable ways to reward your Lyft spending in the long term. You can earn several types of airline or hotel points on Lyft rides. You just have to choose the best option for you.
For example, Alaska fans might want to sign up for the Bilt Rewards program and link their Lyft account to Bilt instead. That's because you can earn up to 5X points per dollar if Bilt is your primary Lyft earning partner — and you can transfer those points to Alaska Mileage Plan (plus several other transfer partners) at a 1:1 ratio.

Our Take
We love Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles, and the opportunity to earn about $20 worth of them by completing two simple tasks — linking and completing one $15+ ride — is nothing short of stellar. If you've never linked your accounts before, this promotion is worth taking advantage of. The bonus will be available through December 3, 2024.
While the 1X Alaska mile per dollar spent on rides is around indefinitely, you may be better served by earning Bilt points on Lyft rides and then transferring those points to Alaska Mileage Plan instead.
