Following the Week of Wow, Southwest Airlines launched a new promotion offering up to 20,000 bonus points for flights completed by August 31, 2025. To earn the full bonus, Rapid Rewards members must take three round-trip flights or six one-way flights. This may be a targeted offer, so check your account to confirm eligibility.

Earn up to 20k Points After Taking Eligible Southwest Flights
Southwest Rapid Rewards members can take advantage of a new promotion to earn up to 20,000 bonus points on eligible flights. You’ll need to register first, and there's a chance that this offer may be targeted.
After registering, you’ll earn bonus points for completing up to six flights by August 31, 2025:
- 5,000 bonus points after one round-trip flight or two one-way flights
- 10,000 bonus points after two round-trip flights or four one-way flights
- 20,000 bonus points after three round-trip flights or six one-way flights
Rapid Rewards members already earn up to 14X points on flights, depending on the fare booked. Stack these bonus points on top of that, and Southwest is making it even more rewarding to fly this summer. You can even book award flights and still earn the bonus points.
Just note that this promotion isn’t valid on existing bookings. So, if the fare you've reserved hasn’t changed or it's gone down, it may be worth rebooking your flight to qualify for the bonus points promotion.

Southwest Car Rental Promotion
Southwest has partnerships with Avis and Payless for Rapid Rewards members to earn bonus points on eligible car rentals. Through January 31, 2026, members can save up to 35% and earn up to 2,400 bonus points with Avis, or save up to 10% and earn up to 1,200 bonus points with Payless.

Our Take
Southwest’s new promotion is a great way to rack up extra points this summer. Complete up to six flights by August 31, 2025, and you can earn up to 20,000 bonus points. If you’ve already booked flights, it may be worth rebooking at the same fare to qualify.
Despite recent changes to Rapid Rewards, Southwest continues to roll out promotion after promotion. And those changes are likely a big reason we’re seeing so many offers aimed at bringing members back onboard.
