Norwegian’s “free shipping” promotion does things a little differently. Instead of the standard “free shipping on orders over $75” or “free shipping with this promo code,” this contest offers a chance for you to win “free shipping” for yourself and a companion. (If you haven’t figured it out, Norwegian is referring to free flights.)

Norwegian Best Free Shipping Sale

How's It Work?

Starting December 16, 2016, there will be four entry periods per day, with each period running as follows:

  • Entry Period 1 – 12 PM Eastern through 2:59:59 PM Eastern
  • Entry Period 2 – 3 PM Eastern through 5:59:59 PM Eastern
  • Entry Period 3 – 6 PM Eastern through 8:59:59 PM Eastern
  • Entry Period 4 – 9 PM Eastern through 11:59:59 PM Eastern

These four daily entry periods will occur from December 16 through December 20 for a total of 20 entry periods (four per day for five days).

During each entry period, you can enter once. To enter, you’ll click on a “product page” for a specified destination, add it to your cart, and proceed to a checkout page as if you were actually making a purchase (but don’t worry, no purchase is required). You’ll then fill out a registration form to complete your entry in that period.

How Do You Win?

On (or near) December 22nd, Norwegian will draw one grand prize winner at random from each of the entry periods for a total of 20 grand prize winners. Each of these lucky winners will receive a travel voucher for $2,000 (for two economy round-trip tickets) from Norwegian Airlines, as well as a gift card for $100. It’s not currently clear what this gift card will be for.

Limitations

There are, of course, some limitations and drawbacks:

  • Open to legal 50 US and DC residents 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry.
  • If you’re one of the lucky winners, you’ll need to redeem your voucher for flights departing from one of the following five airports: JFK, BOS, LAX, OAK, or FLL.
  • The voucher is only valid for select destinations; it’s not a restriction-free gift card. However, there are some pretty appealing options. The destinations available are as follows:
    • Alicante
    • Athens
    • Bangkok
    • Barcelona
    • Bergen
    • Berlin
    • Budapest
    • Geneva
    • Krakow
    • Malaga
    • Munich
    • Nice
    • Palma de Majorca
    • Prague
    • Rome
    • Split
    • Tromso
    • Warsaw
  • To get all 20 entries, you’ll need to enter during each period. This means going to the trouble of filling out an entry four times a day for five days, always during specific three-hour blocks.

To get more details on the promotion, or to enter once it starts, visit the promotion page. There you’ll also be able to sign up for an email reminder when the promotion starts to help ensure you don’t miss a single entry period!

Note: at the time of writing, the countdown clock on the promotion’s site seems to be counting down to 12 AM Eastern instead of 12 PM, which is the official start time according to the promotion’s rules.
